Performs a variety of routine tasks to assist in the preparation and cooking of foods, following standard practices and procedures.Is required to comply with all hygiene and sanitation regulations contained in the Company policies.
- S ets up utensils and food supplies and requested by the cooks.
- Performs the following tasks under the direction of the cook; cuts, washes, or otherwise prepares meat, fish, poultry and vegetables using the appropriate tools and equipment such as meat and / or vegetable grinders, slicers, dicers, choppers, mixers and blenders.
- Assists as directed to facilitate the flow of work in the operations of the kitchen and food distribution.
- Alerts supervisor to problem and needs concerning equipment and food supplies.
- Ensures that all items placed into storage are correctly covered, labeled and date stamped.
- Detects and reports spoiled or unattractive food, defective food supplies, equipment or other unusual conditions.
- Assists in care and maintenance of work areas, equipment and supplies.
- Reports supply shortages.
- Works shifts as required
- Attends in-service and other training sessions as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
