Commercial Director - Construction

Develop and implement the commercial strategy for the business, ensuring alignment with overall corporate objectives. Identify and pursue new business opportunities to drive growth and profitability. Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for all construction projects. Monitor financial performance, ensuring projects are delivered within budget and to the required quality standards. Conduct regular financial reviews, identifying and mitigating risks to profitability.

Contract Management : Lead contract negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Manage and resolve any disputes that arise during the course of projects. Ensure that all contracts are executed in line with company policies and procedures.

Procurement : Oversee the procurement strategy, ensuring cost-effective sourcing of materials and services. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors.

Project Management : Work closely with project managers to ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards. Monitor project progress, addressing any issues or delays that may arise. Ensure that health and safety standards are maintained across all sites. Lead, mentor, and develop the commercial team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement. Provide training and support to staff as needed to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively. Identify potential risks to the business and develop strategies to mitigate these risks. Ensure that the company complies with all relevant regulations and industry standards. Client Relationship Management : Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and expectations are exceeded. Act as the main point of contact for all commercial matters, ensuring clear and effective communication with clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience :

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA or relevant master’s degree is a plus. Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial management within the construction industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement processes, and project management. Proven track record of managing large-scale construction projects and delivering them successfully. Excellent financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
