Job Purpose :

To lead and oversee mine rehabilitation and closure activities, ensuring compliance with sustainability and regulatory requirements. The role manages financial guarantees, validates closure plans, and directs the Center of Excellence for Sustainability to promote best practices in environmental compliance, social responsibility, and sustainable mine site restoration.

Key Accountabilities :

• Lead the development and execution of mine rehabilitation and closure strategies in alignment with national sustainability and environmental standards.
• Oversee compliance with sustainability, environmental, health, safety, and social impact regulations related to mine closure and rehabilitation activities.
• Validate and approve rehabilitation and closure plans , ensuring their technical soundness, financial adequacy, and compliance with applicable regulations.
• Review and verify financial guarantees associated with exploitation licenses, ensuring appropriate updates and releases based on site progress and closure verification.
• Conduct and supervise technical studies to assess the effectiveness of rehabilitation and closure methodologies, ensuring environmental and social sustainability.
• Provide recommendations and expert guidance on closure and rehabilitation plans to support sound decision-making and stakeholder confidence.
• Establish, lead, and manage the Center of Excellence for Sustainability , fostering knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous improvement in rehabilitation and closure practices.
• Collaborate with regulatory bodies, investors, and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment, transparency, and effective implementation of closure policies and sustainability objectives.
• Monitor and report performance metrics on rehabilitation and closure projects, ensuring accountability and continuous improvement in sustainability practices.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience :

Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, Mining Engineering, Geology, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
