ROLE DESCRIPTION
We are seeking an experienced and versatile Senior Accountant to oversee a wide range of accounting functions, including transaction management, financial reporting, compliance, and analysis. This role requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial systems, combined with the ability to deliver actionable insights that support organizational goals. The ideal candidate will contribute to the smooth operation of the accounting function and drive improvements in processes, controls, and reporting accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Ensures accuracy and integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering financial transactions.
- Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts through accurate verification, allocation, posting, and reconciliation of transactions, promptly resolving discrepancies as needed.
- Oversees the general ledger by consolidating subsidiary accounts, preparing trial balances, and ensuring reconciliation of entries.
- Summarizes financial performance by gathering and analyzing data to prepare balance sheets, income statements, and other key financial reports.
- Performs variance analysis by examining variances between actual and expected financial results, identifying opportunities to improve performance, and addressing unfavourable variances.
- Supports external audit processes by analyzing and organizing general ledger accounts and providing necessary documentation for auditors.
- Monitors and ensures proper tax compliance, including preparing and submitting tax returns, calculating provisions, and staying updated on changes in tax regulations.
- Ensures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements to avoid financial or operational challenges.
- Secures financial data through routine database backups and maintaining stringent data integrity standards.
- Improves accounting systems and processes by identifying inefficiencies and implementing enhancements to streamline workflows and ensure accuracy.
- Collaborates with internal departments to provide financial insights and ensure alignment between financial goals and organizational objectives.
- Protects organizational value by maintaining confidentiality of financial and business information.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CA) is highly preferred.Minimum +8 years of progressive experience in accounting, with exposure to transaction management, reporting, compliance, and analysis.Industry-specific experience (if applicable) is a plus but not required. Top 4 background is a plus.Technical Skills
Proficient in accounting software and ERP systems (SAP is a plus).Advanced Excel skills, including experience with financial modelling and data analysis tools.Strong knowledge of IFRS / local accounting standards and tax regulations.Soft Skills
