Overview
Data Center Technician role at Oracle. Responsible for effective delivery of technical support and installations in an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) datacenter.
Responsibilities
- Execute break-fix tasks across hardware, network, cabling and rack deployments.
- Site planning, problem escalation, and managing installations in an OCI datacenter.
- Prioritize ticketing queues, escalate issues, and clear blocking items to enable ongoing technician activities in accordance with internal policies and service level agreements.
- Provide 24x7 site coverage for Oracle OCI datacenter sites.
- Act as a liaison to other technical teams and non-technical teams to resolve customer problems in a timely manner.
- Participate in installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of production server hardware; perform fault diagnosis to SLAs; plan and commission new rack positions; and involve in design and commissioning of new whitespaces.
- Maintain adherence to Health & Safety processes and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team; assist with on-premise work at customer locations as required.
Required Data Center experience
Basic knowledge of data center design, including electrical and cooling plant & operation.Basic knowledge of airflow management (hot aisle, cold aisle, containment, etc.).Rack, stack equipment including commissioning of new racks.Strong structured cabling skills on fiber & copper (looming, term & test).Required systems & hardware expertise
Systems administration (Linux and / or Windows Servers).Hardware repair, diagnosis & break / fix.Networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP / IP, basic troubleshooting).IT Hardware Concepts (RAID, SAN, x86 architecture, SCSI, FC, ethernet, iLO).Base Operating System Installs and configuration; Core OS Services : SSH, Telnet, DHCP.Role Responsibilities and Requirements
Act HW as support expert liaison to other technical teams & non-technical teams (e.g. networking, compute, compliance, business operations).Understand internal customer problems and provide technical solutions in a timely manner.Participate in installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all production server hardware.System board level repair and fault diagnosis to SLAs; planning and commissioning new rack positions; involvement with the design and commissioning of new whitespaces.Keep up with the latest technologies and apply them appropriately.Adherence to defined Health & Safety processes at all times; work in a remote cross-functional environment; additional on-premise work may be required.Required Skills

Perform performance trend analysis and manage server / network capacity. React to potential problems using automation, scheduling, and monitoring tools; escalate to management where appropriate.
