Lab Supervisor

Conducts orientations for students regarding laboratories’ policy and procedure, required educational resources and safety precautions and emergency protocols. Updates laboratory policies and practices under the supervision of the program director. Ensures readiness of the laboratory area and equipment prior to sessions. Informs laboratory manager on required supplies and equipment needed for training. Ensures safe storage of hazardous materials, including chemical reagents. Supervises gathering and disposing of laboratory waste materials according to safety / infection control regulations. Schedules the use of the lab equipment according to the needs of different groups of students. Supervises general cleaning procedures in the laboratory. Ensures working status of laboratory equipment before and after each session. Contributes to maintaining a safe environment in the laboratory and becomes aware of updated safety regulations. Provides students feedback on their academic progress and laboratory skills. Provides extra sessions for students who require additional learning support. Utilizes appropriate teaching methods that promote students’ critical thinking, problem solving, decision-making skills. Ensures proper handling of laboratory equipment by students during the practice sessions. Ensures a conducive learning environment within the laboratory. Works in improving and updating knowledge and skills through participating in continuous academic and professional development activities. Other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibility and requirements of the job.
