Fixed Assets Accounting Senior Specialist
Follow policies and procedures covering all areas of reporting functional activity so that all relevant procedural / legislative requirements are fulfilled and to ensure efficient, effective and deliverables always.
Set-up new assets in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
Reconciles fixed assets module with related fixed assets general ledger and coordinates any variances with relevant fixed assets.
Create and monitor a system of controls, procedures, and forms for the recordation of fixed assets.
Recommend to management any updates to accounting policies related to fixed assets.
Assign tag numbers to fixed assets.
Record fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions in the accounting system.
Track the compilation of project costs into fixed asset accounts, and close out those accounts once the related projects have been completed.
Reconcile the balance in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the summary-level account in the general ledger.
Calculate depreciation for all fixed assets.
Review and update the detailed schedule of fixed assets and accumulated depreciation.
Investigate the potential obsolescence of fixed assets.
Conduct periodic impairment reviews for intangible assets.
Initiate periodic physical inventory counts of fixed assets.
Recommend to management whether fixed assets should be disposed of.
Conduct analyses related to fixed assets as requested by management.
Prepare audit schedules relating to fixed assets and assist the auditors in their inquiries.
Track company expenditures for fixed assets in comparison to the capital budget and management authorizations.
Oversees the development and implementation of systems, and controls to ensure that the quality and allocation are properly accounted for.
Assist in month-end financial statement close.
Support other accounting projects, as necessary.
Prepares accounting and financial reports for monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial packages and financial statements including recording, classifying, and summarizing financial transactions.
Qualifications
University degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
Experience
Minimum 5 years relevant experience in a relevant sector including at least 2 years in Fixed Assets.
