Role
As assigned by MEP Manager responsible for all BMS / ELV Systems / PLC SCADA site technical and engineering aspects of their assigned project. This includes engineering review of handover from Tender Team, planning, executing and managing all technical tasks to assure accuracy, proper resources, commissioning and quality from start to finish of the assigned project. Project BMS / ELV Project Engineers are the day‑to‑day link between Design / Construction / Commissioning site teams and Specialist Contractors, managing sub‑contractors for all BMS / ELV Systems / PLC SCADA technical aspects for site construction and commissioning execution.
Responsibilities
- Direct line of report MEP Manager or Project Manager depending on project size and structure, coordinating closely with the project Commissioning Manager.
- Assist the Pre‑Construction Manager, MEP Manager and Estimating Team to ensure robust tendering.
- Critique tender documentation / Pre‑Construction project handover documentation, identify project risks and constructability studies as assigned.
- Conduct design reviews to ensure all engineering parameters, calculations, Sequence of Operation, etc. are in line with project requirements and local and mandatory codes.
- Provide discipline input to RIBA stage drawings (if design and build), discipline shop drawings and as built drawings process to Code A status (under direction from line manager and in coordination with BIM Lead and specialist Subcontractors).
- Prepare engineering studies as applicable and coordinate / review third‑party studies as applicable.
- Develop / validate, BMS / ELV / PLC SCADA interface details and Sequence of Operation for all CFCI and OFCI / MCE (if applicable) and third‑party equipment.
- Provide discipline input to design programme in conjunction with Line Manager, Commissioning Lead, Project Controls Engineer, Client Consultants and Specialist contractors / Subcontractors in line with overall project delivery schedule.
- Preparation / Input to sub‑contractor Scope of Works documentation in coordination with MEP Manager, Commissioning Leads to ensure all scope is captured including detailed attendances to mitigate risk of scope gaps in agreements.
- Provide day‑to‑day links with Clients or Client Consultants Engineering and Commissioning discipline teams as per the agreed project communication matrix.
- Coordinate with MEP Manager and Commissioning Lead to establish Project overall engineering and commissioning deliverable requirements, including ongoing amendments to associated registers e.g. drawing registers.
- Ensure all construction design / execution / commissioning issues are addressed in coordination with the MEP Manager and site construction / commissioning stakeholders.
- Review / prepare / comment on engineering studies as applicable and coordinate / review third‑party interface studies as applicable.
- Coordinate with Pre‑Construction and Construction Team, BIM Lead, discipline engineers for validation of material take‑offs for associated BMS / ELV Systems / PLC SCADA, equipment, infrastructure and interfaces.
- Study the project specifications in detail and be aware of the scope of work. Be able to identify variations and officially track through the RFI process.
- Coordinate with the Construction Team and validate material take‑off top‑ups.
- Coordinate all subject discipline plant suppliers and specialist systems suppliers to ensure suitable interfaces are achieved e.g., specification design compliance (providing design input as required), correct supplies to equipment and third‑party interface, BMS, PLC SCADA, CCTV, Access Control Systems, etc., and ensure correct supplies to equipment and third‑party interface.
- Provide the day‑to‑day link between the Construction Team and BIM / Design team / In house and Client Commissioning Teams, Specialist Subcontractors and provide technical support to Construction Managers as required to ensure the installation meets the design and operability requirements.
- Liaise and coordinate the builders’ work requirements with Construction Managers / Specialist Subcontractors / BIM Team.
- Coordinate all MEP services with Construction / Specialist Subcontractors and BIM team for clash mitigation.
- Coordinate and attend FAT / SAT with Client / Clients Consultant / Commissioning Lead and Specialist Subcontractor as applicable.
- Provide technical support to the Construction Manager as required to ensure the installation meets the design.
- Preparation of engineering and material submittals as defined to Code A status.
- Verification and inspection of systems in line with approved submittals and design (assistance to QA / QC).
- Preparation of MR’s / RFQs for approval and issue to the Procurement department to issue to vendors.
- Attend weekly meetings as required and arrange Minutes of meetings for records as applicable.
- Coordinate with Project Controls Engineer for weekly Progress Report development.
- Monitor progress and status of RFI's and submittals, escalating any delays in submission and return in coordination with Project Document Control.
- Escalate to the MEP Manager any engineering issues arising that may affect project schedule or project execution plans.
- Provide input to Project Change Management process via MEP Manager.
- Liaise with the commercial team in providing technical information and back‑up on variations.
- Interface with Commissioning Team for engineering, commissioning input and vendor coordination.
- Coordinate and generate red‑line drawings and As‑built drawings in coordination with construction teams and QA / QC teams to Code A status.
- Coordinate and generate the BMS / ELV Systems / PLC SCADA systems O&Ms to Code A status.
- Coordinate with Commissioning team / Specialist Subcontractors for client training requirements.
- Liaise with procurement department and vendors on equipment warranty certificates and ensure they are in line with project requirements.
- Ensure that the HSE requirements are observed in the execution of all engineering activities.
- Provide regular input to the continuous improvement log (lessons learned), implementing changes where deficiencies are identified and corrective actions proposed.
- Ensure awareness and compliance of the QSP’s which are located and maintained in the JEG Group Quality Library.
Commissioning Technical Proficiency
Pre‑Commissioning & Commissioning : Prepare and manage commissioning documentation in line with project requirements, execute pre‑commissioning and commissioning of BMS / ELV / PLC SCADA systems, including Direct Digital Control (DDC) controllers, Process Logic Controllers (PLC’s), field devices (function and calibration), HVAC and Electrical Systems (MV, LV as applicable) and third‑party system integrations. CCTV and Access Control Systems.Functional Testing : Conduct comprehensive functional tests to ensure BMS / ELV / PLC SCADA / CCTV / Access Control Systems, execute control strategies and sequences of operations per the design specifications.Graphics Testing : Upload and test Building Management System (BMS) / PLC SCADA / CCTV / Access Control Systems, graphics for proper functionality and usability.Software Configuration : Work with Client, Clients Third‑party Representatives, Specialist Subcontractors for programming, configuration, FAT / SAT testing and troubleshooting.Documentation & Reporting : Prepare commissioning reports, as‑built documentation, and other technical records.Coordination : Collaborate with project teams, contractors, and third‑party vendors to ensure seamless project execution.Training & Handover : Provide training sessions to end‑users and facility managers on system operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting.Provides a working environment that develops a highly productive, adaptive, motivated and creative team which builds cooperation, respect, Team and Self focus, openness, respect and commitment.Experience And Qualifications
