Overview
MEP Project Controls Engineer - Saudi Arabia ) role at Jones Engineering. This role involves site MEP planning and reporting requirements, including progress reporting, lookahead schedules and Primavera programme management. The Project Controls Engineer will manage information across project stakeholder departments to provide the leadership team with an accurate project status, with close collaboration with project leads to ensure concise and accurate reporting statistics.
Responsibilities
- Direct line of report to the Project Manager during execution; report to the Pre-Construction Manager during tender.
- Assist Pre-Construction Manager and Estimating Team to ensure robust tendering and manage the preparation of the master programme (Primavera) in line with the overall project timeframe, including resource loading as applicable and directed.
- Manage and review construction programmes received from contractors and analyse them in line with contractual requirements.
- Critique tender documentation / pre-construction handover documentation, identify scheduling risks with the project team.
- Interface with the project management team and all key project stakeholders.
- Daily tracking and regular reporting of planned vs actual; identify risks to all activities, particularly critical path and activities impacting other contractors or client.
- Recommend possible acceleration of the project programme where appropriate.
- Monitor and report project manpower (direct and indirect) to ensure resource levels align with projections.
- Provide reports to the QS and Project Manager for progress applications, delay notices and other project control requirements.
- Prepare 2-week and 4-week schedule lookaheads for progress monitoring and coordinate team efforts with the schedule; issue dropline updates every two weeks to identify delays and enable mitigation.
- Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly progress reports / presentations for the client; maintain reporting protocols / templates for progress monitoring against the project programme.
- Coordinate with project stakeholders for risk assessments and delay mitigation plans.
- Ensure procurement, material and submittal logs are created and maintained up to date.
- Identify long-lead items, track and report progress for expediting timely delivery.
- Cost reporting in coordination with the project QS and Project Manager (data provided by others).
- Identify EOT / claims risks and present data to challenge subcontractor claims and EOT requests.
- Review and assess claims for variations or change orders and communicate potential cost impact to the project team and commercial team.
- Escalate scheduling issues to the Project Manager that may affect the project programme.
- Supervise, develop and mentor project staff.
- Perform Earned Value Analysis on a resource-loaded programme, including productivity analysis and labour package monitoring.
- Perform window analysis and float path analysis on programme updates and advise leadership weekly.
- Provide a productive, collaborative working environment that supports a high-performing team.
Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.Minimum 5 years of experience with MEP building services contractors.Data center MEP construction experience is required.Minimum 2 years GCC experience preferred.Advanced Primavera P6 skills.Advanced MS Excel skills.Understanding of MEP construction sequencing.Good presentation skills.Seniority level
