1. Job Purpose Ensure the operational readiness and effectiveness of fire and rescue services through comprehensive maintenance of fire vehicle and facility apparatus and equipment by developing and implementing robust maintenance programs. This role ensures compliance with GACA regulations and related standards, NFPA and manufacturer's instructions to maintain high levels of safety and efficiency in emergency response operations. 2. Position Accountability Description Operational Excellence : Ensure the highest level of operational readiness by conducting regular and thorough maintenance and inspections of special response equipment, vehicles, facilities and communication devices, addressing any issues promptly to maintain full functionality. Organize and oversee corrective and preventive maintenance activities to minimize downtime and ensure the reliability and effectiveness of all fire and rescue vehicles, equipment, and facilities coordinating schedules to avoid disruptions in operational readiness. Implement and execute comprehensive maintenance schedules for fire vehicles and facilities to meet requirements, ensure part availability, and review / validate spare parts invoices for KFIA, HOF, and AQI airports. Maintain an updated inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment to ensure that all necessary resources are available for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities, minimizing downtime and operational disruptions. Regularly assess and oversee the performance of the fire vehicle and facility maintenance contractor, generate reports on technical and financial aspects of work compared to contract specifications, and evaluate decisions between maintenance and replacement. Ensure compliance with quality assurance protocols and standards in all maintenance activities. Ensure that minimum requirements are consistently met according to GACA regulations and standards. Sustainability : Identify and implement energy-efficient practices and technologies in vehicle and facility maintenance operations to reduce energy consumption and contribute to DACO's sustainability goals. Implement sustainability practices in maintenance activities to reduce environmental impact and promote efficient use of resources. Emergency Response Management : Develop and conduct regular scenario-based drills to test and improve the emergency response plans, ensuring the team is well-prepared to handle unforeseen incidents effectively. Ensure there are emergency maintenance technical support response plans and protocols in place to guarantee quick and effective action during emergencies. Compliance and Safety : Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and industry standards to protect personnel and equipment. Communication and Coordination : Facilitate effective communication within the team and with external stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination of activities. Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of quality spare parts and services and negotiate contracts to secure favorable terms for the organization. Record Keeping and Reporting : Maintain detailed and accurate records of all maintenance activities, fire vehicles, facilities, and equipment Inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, support continuous improvement efforts, and prepare reports for review by senior management. Ensure the ongoing effectiveness of these programs by regularly gathering and analyzing feedback. Use this feedback, along with input from staff, changes in procedure, and best practices, to continuously update and improve maintenance procedures and materials. Incorporate new information and lessons learned to keep the maintenance programs current and effective. Innovation and Continuous Improvement Collaborate with other departments, including operations and logistics, to gain a comprehensive understanding of their processes and incorporate their feedback into vehicle and facility maintenance practices for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness. Regularly assess current maintenance practices, identify inefficiencies, and implement process improvements to reduce downtime, optimize resource use, and enhance the reliability of fire and rescue vehicles, facilities, and equipment. Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the vehicle and FRS acilities maintenance team by encouraging the adoption of new technologies and best practices. Team Collaboration and Continuous Learning Work collaboratively with maintenance team members and other FRS personnel by sharing knowledge, providing support, and actively participating in team activities, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Engage in continuous learning by seeking feedback, attending training sessions, and staying updated on industry trends and advancements in vehicle and facility maintenance to enhance personal skills and contribute to the team's overall growth.
