Marine Coordinator

Provide the Operations Manager with advice in marine related matters to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of SAMREF’s terminal facilities. Supervise the preparation of shipping documentation, coordinate activities between Refinery and ships, Port Authority, Marine Department and shipping agencies.

REGULAR ASSIGNED DUTIES

• Coordinate shipping schedule with Offsite Manager / Terminal Day Supervisor and planning staff.
• Ensure that the terms of the Off-take agreements are adhered to.
• Ensure that all relevant International, Port and Terminal regulations are observed.
• Provide input to Shift Clerks in preparation of documentation per Off takers instructions for all cargoes loaded.
• Maintain statistics and issue regular reports on shipping turnarounds and frequency as well as demurrage and quantity claims.
• Liaise with port authorities, agents, port manager, and inspection companies on all marine matters including berthing and mooring questions, turnaround, supplies.
• Custody transfer and loss control – Keep records, monitor, and advise on all SAMREF’s custody transfer activities and meter records including losses to ensure acceptable industry standards are maintained at all the Marine Terminal.
• Approve ships for use by SAMREF based on established international and company safety standards.
• Ensure unit safety, environmental, and housekeeping standards are maintained at all times.
• Ensure that all applicable Samref policies and procedures are followed.
• Actively coach supervisors on management practices and development of employees.

Education :

Bachelor's degree or equivalent (foreign-going master’s license)

Experience :

Minimum of 10 years of experience as serving officer in oil tankers including time as Chief Officer and Master.
