Qualifications
Experience : 8-15 years Education : Diploma in Refrigeration Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field Certification : Ammonia Safety Certification, HVAC / R Certification, Ammonia and / or Freon Handling and Safety Certification; relevant technical training certifications from equipment manufacturers Skills : Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycles, system components, and control systems; familiarity with regulatory requirements for refrigerants (e.g., Ammonia, F-Gas, ASHRAE, or equivalent); proficient in troubleshooting, system diagnostics, and repair techniques; excellent communication and reporting skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team; proficiency in using maintenance management systems and tools; knowledge of PLC / SCADA systems for refrigeration
Job Description / Responsibilities
Lead and supervise a team of refrigeration technicians, ensuring that daily tasks are carried out effectively and on schedule. Assign tasks, provide guidance, and monitor the performance of team members to ensure quality work. Conduct regular talks and team briefings to discuss work plans, safety measures, and updates. Oversee routine maintenance, inspections, and repair activities for industrial refrigeration systems, including compressors, evaporators, condensers, and controls; ensure all work is completed in compliance with established procedures and safety standards. Provide hands-on troubleshooting and technical support for diagnosing and resolving complex issues; guide technicians in performing repairs, adjustments, and replacements of faulty components. Enforce adherence to safety protocols, particularly in handling refrigerants, pressurized equipment, and electrical systems; conduct safety checks and ensure all work complies with relevant regulations and standards. Monitor and manage tools and equipment used by the team; assist in managing spare parts inventory and coordinating with the relevant team for replenishment. Serve as the primary point of contact between technicians and the engineering or management team; report daily activities, system status, and challenges to the relevant supervisor or engineer. Train new technicians on operational procedures, troubleshooting techniques, and safety practices; conduct periodic skill enhancement sessions for the team. Respond promptly to system failures or emergencies, coordinating the team to minimize downtime; ensure the team is prepared for after-hours calls and emergency situations. Maintain detailed logs of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections; assist in preparing reports for the engineering team regarding system performance and maintenance needs. Inspect facilities periodically to determine problems and necessary maintenance; prepare BOQ for maintenance and renovation works; supervise tradesmen during installations, repairs or maintenance (electricians, plumbers, etc.). Inspect and maintain building systems (heating, ventilation, etc.); contribute to the development of the maintenance budget and ensure compliance; monitor inventory of materials and equipment. Coordinate projects (e.g., renovations) and ensure adherence to quality standards and health and safety regulations. Regularly inspect and test firefighting systems, including extinguishers, hoses, sprinklers, and alarms, to ensure they are fully operational and compliant with safety regulations; coordinate with relevant teams to schedule and oversee maintenance and servicing of firefighting equipment, racking systems, and backup generators for emergency readiness. Assist in developing and executing fire drills and emergency response plans, focusing on effective use of firefighting equipment.
