Job Description :
The Structural Design Review Team Member (DRT) is responsible for performing detailed design reviews, maintaining communication with clients to clarify information, requesting missing documents, participating in inspections, attending meetings, and engaging in technical discussions. Tasks may vary based on the progress of work and specific project requirements.
Responsibilities
Duties
- Design Review : Conduct detailed reviews of project specifications, structural calculations, architectural drawings, and geotechnical reports.
- Evaluate compliance with relevant codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Prepare and issue Design Review Reports (DRR) based on findings.
- Utilize PRIMA-APAVE templates for reviews when structural calculation notes are unavailable.
- Communication with Clients : Request and follow up on missing documents, including but not limited to structural drawings, architectural plans, soil reports, and proposal forms. Ensure clear and professional communication via email and WhatsApp. Send reminders for pending documents, adhering to the defined follow-up process : First reminder : 7 days; Second reminder : Additional 3 days; Final reminder : Additional 1 day, after which escalate unresolved issues to the team leader.
- Review geotechnical interpretative reports to verify : Site investigations and test adequacy; Soil layer characterization; Compliance of foundation solutions with design recommendations; Identify and document any reservations or technical comments in the Initial Risk Assessment Report (RDO).
- Tracker and Documentation Management : Update project trackers daily with the status (e.g., on hold, ongoing, submitted). Coordinate with the Design Review Team Loader (DRTL) to ensure timely submission of reports. Inform relevant stakeholders (e.g., RFP team) about the availability of completed RDOs for portal upload.
- Inspection and Meetings : Participate in client meetings and site inspections as required. Engage in technical discussions to resolve project issues and provide expert guidance.
- Technical Discussions : Address design modifications and compliance issues with clients. Provide recommendations to ensure project adherence to structural and safety standards.
Workflow Processes
RDO Workflow : Check the tracker / Google Drive daily for new projects. Initiate the RDO process by verifying the receipt of all required documents. Submit the RDO report within 48 hours of receiving all necessary documents.Design Review Workflow : If structural calculations are provided : Perform a full design review based on the provided calculations. Communicate required modifications to clients via email and WhatsApp. Issue and upload the DRR upon completion. If structural calculations are not provided : Request calculations from the client and proceed with PRIMA APAVE templates.Design Review Criteria
Verify gravity and lateral load considerations.Check geotechnical criteria against the soil report.Review foundations, structural members, and design assumptions for compliance.Address inconsistencies and recommend solutions to clients.Reporting and Coordination
Maintain daily communication with the Design Review Team Leader. Ensure that reports (RDO, DRR) are reviewed, approved, and uploaded within the specified time frames.Authorization
Decision-Making : Authorized to make decisions regarding the organization and management of design review processes.Resource Allocation : Authorized to allocate resources for project reviews and inspections.Client Communication : Authorized to communicate with clients regarding project requirements modifications, and compliance issues.Report Issuance : Authorized to prepare, review, and issue Design Review Reports (DRR) and Initial Risk Assessment Reports (RDO).General Notes
Tasks and responsibilities are subject to change based on project progress and client requirements.Ensure all activities align with the standards outlined in SBC or other enforced codes / standards.Qualifications
Education : Bachelor's degree in civil engineer, or a related field.Experience : At least 5 years in structural design review.Skills
