Overview
Establish a structured process for receiving BI development requests from business users. Assess each request to determine its scope, urgency, and alignment with strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
- Prioritization and Scheduling : Develop criteria for prioritising requests based on business impact, resource availability, and urgency.
- Create and maintain a schedule for BI development activities, ensuring timely delivery of high-priority requests.
- Communication and Feedback : Communicate with business users to confirm receipt of requests and provide updates on prioritisation and scheduling.
- Gather feedback from users to improve the request intake and prioritisation process.
- Analyze Requirements and Document Functional and Technical Specifications : Conduct meetings and interviews with business users to gather detailed requirements for BI development projects.
- Use techniques such as process mapping and use case analysis to understand user needs and objectives.
- Documentation of Specifications : Prepare comprehensive functional and technical specifications that clearly outline project requirements.
- Ensure specifications are detailed, accurate, and aligned with business goals and technical capabilities.
- Review and Validation : Collaborate with stakeholders to review and validate specifications, ensuring they meet user needs and technical feasibility.
- Update documentation as necessary to reflect changes in requirements or project scope.
- Align Business Requests with Available Data Sources and Technical Capabilities : Data Source Identification and Mapping : Identify relevant data sources that can support business requests and BI development projects.
- Map business requirements to available data sources, ensuring compatibility and accessibility.
- Technical Capability Assessment : Evaluate technical capabilities and limitations to determine feasibility of requested BI solutions.
- Collaborate with IT and data engineering teams to address technical challenges and optimise solutions.
- Solution Design and Recommendation : Design BI solutions that align with business requests, leveraging available data and technical resources.
- Provide recommendations to business users on optimal solutions and potential alternatives.
- Serve as a Bridge Between Business Teams and Developers : Facilitation and Communication : Act as a liaison between business teams and developers, facilitating clear communication and understanding.
- Translate business requirements into technical language for developers and vice versa.
- Project Coordination and Support : Coordinate project activities between business users and development teams, ensuring alignment and collaboration.
- Provide ongoing support to developers and business users throughout the project lifecycle.
- Issue Resolution and Feedback : Address and resolve any issues or misunderstandings that arise between business teams and developers.
- Gather feedback from both parties to improve collaboration and project outcomes.
- Education : Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Information Technolog, or a related field. A Master\'s degree is preferred.
- Experience : Minimum of 6 years of experience in business analysis, requirements gathering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in bridging business and technical teams and documenting specifications is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills : Proficiency in BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
- Strong knowledge of data analysis techniques and requirements documentation.
- Experience with data integration and automation tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R).
- Soft Skills : Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Certifications : Relevant certifications in business analysis or project management (e.g., Certified Business Analysis Professional) are a plus.
