Job Summary The Senior Legal Officer is required to perform work involving the conduct of research related to the laws and legal issues pertinent to the operations of the CARE. Duties include preparing legal documents, developing and maintaining a repository of documents on legal matters. Dependent on assignment.
Responsibilities
Conduct research on legal issues related to CARE operations and prepare written opinions, working papers and reports.
Undertake extensive review of legal documents, instruments and other material, identify issues and propose amendments.
Prepare briefs and preliminary drafts of legislative and legal material.
Develop and maintain an up-to-date source of laws, judgments, contract precedents and other related material pertinent to CARE operations.
Contribute to the review and formulation of recommendations to amend legislation pertinent to CARE.
Assist in drafting legal documents such as contracts, agreements, opinions and briefs; prepare memoranda, letters and other documents.
Represent the Legal Department on committees and at meetings, conferences and workshops when requested.
Conduct legal investigations within CARE.
Liaise with other divisions and external agencies regarding the work of the Division.
Copy and collate relevant documents.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Provide legal guidance and advice to CARE operations, including general legal advice on best practices for compliance, input on business decisions and contract negotiations, and legal strategies for litigation and other legal activities.
Examine evidence and make decisions related to legal strategies and options.
Effectively communicate both verbally (with CARE entities, judges) and in written documents (legal summaries, statements, official letters, opinion and briefs).
Represent CARE at hearings and trials, gathering relevant information, building the legal case, and negotiating on behalf of CARE.

Qualifications
Minimum : B.A degree in Law / Legal studies.
At least 4 years’ experience in the Legal field.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills, fluent in both verbal and written English.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word as well as computerized accounting applications.
Familiar with multinational environment work.
