The Role
The System Administrator / Infrastructure Program Manager will be responsible for planning, implementing, and managing the organization's IT infrastructure. The role combines technical expertise in system administration with strategic planning, project management, and coordination of infrastructure programs to ensure optimal performance, scalability, and security. This position will oversee hardware, software, network, and cloud environments while driving infrastructure-related projects and initiatives. Key ResponsibilitiesSystem Administration
- Manage and maintain servers, storage, networking equipment, and virtual environments (on-premises and cloud-based solutions).
- Configure and support operating systems (Windows Server, Linux distributions, etc.).
- Monitor system performance, perform regular backups, and ensure disaster recovery plans are in place and tested.
- Implement and maintain security policies, patch management, and access controls.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues affecting IT infrastructure.
- Oversee Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and file services. Infrastructure Program Management
- Lead infrastructure projects including upgrades, cloud migrations, network expansions, and new service deployments.
- Define project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Ensure alignment with organizational goals, compliance, and risk management requirements.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams and vendors to deliver infrastructure programs efficiently.
- Provide periodic reports and dashboards on infrastructure performance, projects, and risks.
- Identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and cost reduction. Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Mentor and guide junior system administrators and IT staff.
- Establish and document best practices, processes, and training materials.
- Work with cybersecurity, compliance, and operations teams to enforce policies and ensure business continuity.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).8+ years of experience in system administration and infrastructure management.4+ years of experience in Program Management.Proven experience managing infrastructure projects and programs with measurable outcomes.Expertise in Windows Server, Linux environments, virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).Experience with network design, firewalls, VPNs, load balancers, and storage solutions.Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policies, authentication methods, and security frameworks.Familiarity with scripting and automation tools (PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, Terraform, etc.).Project management certification (PMP, Prince2, or similar) is preferred.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.About the company
