Job Summary

The Application Architect will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and optimizing the organization’s application architecture to meet current and future business needs. This role involves assessing existing application frameworks, developing target architecture based on industry best practices, and driving the evolution of the application landscape through strategic transformation. The architect works closely with stakeholders to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with overall business goals. Additionally, they evaluate and recommend IT solutions, support governance processes, and oversee the integration of new technologies within the enterprise ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Assessing Current Application Architecture – Analyze existing architecture to identify opportunities for improvement, optimization, and alignment with business objectives, ensuring scalability, performance, and security requirements are met.
• Designing Target Application Architecture – Develop a blueprint that aligns with business needs, adheres to industry standards, and defines system components, interactions, and tech stack for current and future applications.
• Gap Analysis & Transformation Roadmap – Conduct a detailed gap analysis between current and target architectures; produce a phased IT transformation roadmap that closes identified gaps over time.
• Developing RFPs – Lead the creation of comprehensive Requests for Proposals, ensuring they capture all technical and business requirements while aligning with the target architecture.
• Evaluating and Selecting IT Vendors & Solutions – Analyze, evaluate, and recommend IT vendors and solutions that fit the organization’s needs, considering technology compatibility, scalability, vendor reputation, and cost‑effectiveness.
• Supporting Architecture Governance – Contribute to governance functions to ensure all application designs align with architectural principles, security standards, and long‑term strategy, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
• Change Request Assessment – Review and assess incoming change requests, providing guidance on their impact and aligning them with the target architecture while advising on feasibility and risks.
• Stakeholder Engagement & Support – Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to ensure designs meet organizational needs; provide technical guidance and support for smooth integration of new technologies.
• Continuous Improvement & Innovation – Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices; identify opportunities for continuous improvement and advocate innovative solutions enhancing performance, scalability, and user experience.
• Documentation & Knowledge Sharing – Create and maintain clear documentation of architecture designs, decisions, and guidelines; share knowledge and best practices with the development team to ensure understanding of the architectural vision.

Qualifications

• Drives the creation and update of the Target Application Architecture based on priority business requirements.
• Proficient in TOGAF, SOA frameworks.
• Ensures application architecture alignment with organization objectives and collaborates with other domain architects to maintain consistency.
• Ensures initiatives and projects conform to Application Architecture direction, best practices, and beige standards.
• Establishes and implements architectural conformance.
• Monitors technology advancements and adapts the implementation of the Target Application Architecture accordingly.
• Helps drive project teams to design, develop, and deliver EA compliant initiatives, including alignment to the Target Integration Architecture vision.
• Measures integration maturity and proposes initiatives to improve organizational integration maturity.
• Ensures initiatives and projects conform to EA Integration Architecture standards through the Governance Framework.
• Drives initiative reviews from an Enterprise Architecture perspective.
• Identifies and manages prioritization of integration gaps and recommends solutions across the EA.
• Supports EA Governance and Change Management Processes.
• Fluent in Arabic and English.
