Lead SQL & Oracle Database Administrator Location : onsite in Riyadh
Overview Senior-level database administrator responsible for SQL Server and Oracle environments, including performance tuning, high availability, backup / restore, and automation. Collaborates with solution architects, vendors, and application teams to ensure database reliability and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Serve as SME for Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and other database technologies.
Manage database backup and restore functions, including scheduled DR tests and technologies such as Clustering, Replication, and Always-On.
Participate in CAB meetings, DORM calls, escalation calls, and improvement sessions.
Understand SQL parameter / configuration files enhancements and deep tuning.
Participate in SQL code reviews to enforce SQL coding standards.
Build and report on SQL environment performance and availability metrics; implement best practices to optimize performance.
Assist in technical analysis and design for current and future projects.
Write SQL scripts to extract data efficiently and in a timely manner.
Install database software / features on servers as needed.
Monitor databases for performance and issues using monitoring tools.
Ensure all database servers meet Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
Collaborate with vendors and external support to provide a stable environment.
Architect and maintain Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, and backup / restore strategies.
Lead performance tuning, patch management, and complex incident resolution.
Manage SQL database lifecycle : EOL provisioning, migrations, upgrades.
Ensure high availability and replication readiness across data centers.
Maintain consistency of databases and implement automation for routine tasks using PowerShell, T-SQL, PL / SQL, Cron Jobs, and SQL Jobs.
Ensure compliance, secure data handling, and auditing (NCA and NDMO).
Mentor L2 Oracle / SQL engineers and interface with solution architects.
Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Typically 6+ years of relevant work experience, with a minimum of 2+ years in a similar role.
Advanced skills in Oracle 19c+, RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, OEM; SQL Server 2014 / 2017 / 2019; SSIS, SSRS.
Expertise in SQL optimization, schema tuning, capacity tuning, and deep database troubleshooting.
Experience with tuning tools such as SQL Profiler, Extended Events, default traces, and Windows performance counters.
Experience with large database environments and hybrid cloud database setups.
Knowledge of automation, reporting, automatic performance tuning.
Strong knowledge of standard database management practices and methodologies.
