2.0 Job Summary

2.1 Responsible for the provision of nursing care that meets PSMMC Competency Standards for Registered Nurse, including individual accountability for action within the scope, practices and framework for Registered Nurse in accordance with PSMMC Policies and Procedure.

3.0 Duties And Responsibilities

3.1 Clinical

• Deliver and maintains safe quality nursing care according to PSMMC policies and procedures.
• Utilize evidence-based approach in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.
• Recognize and act on changes in patient condition, making safe, timely decisions appropriate to the situation.
• Assist team leaders and members in liaising between healthcare professionals, physicians and allied healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate medical care is provided to all patients.
• Ensure that appropriate documentation e.g. consent medical assessment and others is obtained and maintained for patients undergoing relevant medical treatment. Respond to life-saving situations following the appropriate nursing standards and protocols to treatment.
• Ensures safe administration and management of medication after passing the competency.
• Apply knowledge and operate safely in handling specialized and technological equipment.
• Advocate on behalf of their patients to ensure quality healthcare services are provided. Maintain professional interpersonal relationships with patients, families and coworkers / other members of the health care team.
• Maintain and protect the safety, confidentiality and dignity of patients and families.
• Maintain a clean, safe and tidy unit.
• Maintain privacy and confidentiality of all patient related information in relation to service provision and healthcare treatments and services.

4.1 Essential : Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

4.2 Essential : License : Current practicing license from country of origin and current Saudi Council Registration as a Specialist

4.3 Essential : Certificate in BCLS, Sedation Course, ACLS, PALS, NRP and chemotherapy course for specialized areas (ED, GICU, NICU, PICU, OAU, Labor Ward, Ward 5N, CDU, Rheumatology Day Case, Hemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis)

4.4 Essential : Post-basic certificate in area of responsibility

5.0 Professional Experience

5.1 Essential : Non-Saudi : Minimum of four (4) years in general nursing in a tertiary hospital

5.2 Essential : Meet generic and unit-specific competencies

5.3 Essential : Saudi : One (1) year preferred

6.0 Specialized Knowledge

6.1 Essential : Current knowledge of assigned area

6.2 Essential : Computer literate

6.3 Essential : Good verbal and written communication
