Inspector (Civil / Construction) Engineer
Duties of the jobholder (within the area of responsibility)
- Pre-Inspection Planning and Preparation :
Monitor daily schedules and email communications for newly assigned site inspection activities
Conduct a comprehensive review of all project documentation, including technical drawings, bar bending schedules, and construction details relevant to inspection stagesPrepare Inspection Reports (INR) with complete client and project information before site visitsEstablish client communication 24 hours in advance of scheduled inspections to coordinate timing and request required documentationVerify availability of current approved construction drawings and ensure alignment with project specificationsOn-Site Inspection Activities :Execute comprehensive physical site inspections in accordance with established protocols and safety requirements
Conduct detailed visual assessments of construction work and collect photographic evidence for all required inspection points as specified in INR checklistsVerify construction compliance against approved drawings and technical specificationsIdentify and document construction deviations, including structural discrepancies, missing reinforcement, improper installation, and workmanship deficienciesCommunicate identified deviations to clients during inspection and advise on required corrective actionsEnsure all photographic evidence is properly catalogued and stored in designated project filesDocumentation and Reporting :Prepare and issue appropriate inspection reports based on site conditions :
INR reports for compliant work or minor deviations corrected during inspection
Issue RD5 reports for major deviations requiring formal documentation and stakeholder notificationSubmit comprehensive daily reports to the project deliverables database via AppSheetProvide daily status summaries to the Team Leader via email, categorizing inspection outcomes and scheduling requirementsMaintain accurate and detailed records of all inspection activities and findingsClient and Stakeholder Communication :Maintain professional and effective communication with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders
Provide technical explanations and guidance regarding inspection requirements and compliance standardsCoordinate revisit schedules when corrective actions are requiredEnsure timely notification to the Team Leader for major deviations requiring escalationQualification / minimum requirements (Education, work experience, other skills, etc.)
Education : Bachelor’s degree in civil or construction engineeringExperience : Minimum 3 years in civil construction inspectionProfessional Registration : Current registration with the Saudi Council of EngineersTechnical Knowledge : Comprehensive understanding of construction practices, materials, and quality control proceduresIndustrial education and training
