Lead Storage Backup Engineer

Lead Storage Backup Engineer role at DXC Technology.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Storage and backup administrators, providing guidance and mentorship
• Set goals, monitor progress, and ensure the team meets the bigger team objectives
• Collaborate with individuals inside the team and with other global IT teams to complete project work
• Engage with all levels of management and key stakeholders to develop, implement, and manage support and operational objectives
• Identify and incorporate future service management needs into a well-considered multi-year roadmap across the support areas
• Support achievement of performance goals, budget goals, team goals, etc
• Build the organizational capacity necessary to execute the strategy
• Generate custom reports / dashboards and Knowledgebase documentation
• Strong understanding of storage technologies (SAN, NAS, cloud storage), operating systems, networking concepts, and backup solutions
• Perform installation and implementation of storage systems and hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) from vendors such as Dell, IBM and HPE
• Assist in the deployment and configuration of virtualization environments
• Manage and maintain an organization\'s data storage systems, including ensuring data availability, integrity, and security through configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting storage hardware and software
• Ensure backup solutions provide logging, alerting, and notifications while monitoring backup schedules for completion or failure
• Collaborate with other IT teams (network, database, application) to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval
• Manage and operate backup solutions including job creation, monitoring, and basic troubleshooting
• Collaborate with senior engineers to support and maintain data center infrastructure
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including Low-Level Design (LLD) and As-Built documentation
• Support day-to-day data center operations, including equipment racking, cabling, and hardware maintenance
• Understand networking fundamentals and data center operations
• Ensure backup solution disaster readiness and backup operations functionality in disaster recovery situations
• Work with application stakeholders to define backup policies, recovery objectives, backup schedules and recovery time objectives for each application, and provide support to application teams during projects and implementations
• Apply technology best practices, upgrades, vendor recommendations, and SLAs / OLAs, in addition to target KPIs
• Follow best practices and procedures to ensure a secure, stable, and high-performing environment
