Roles and responsibilities
Design, manage, and coordinatedrilling programs for Exploration, across multiple assets, adheringto safety standards, environmental regulations, and companypolicies.
Develop drilling strategies, plans, andbudgets in collaboration with the Director Exploration and otherstakeholders, emphasizing the identification and delineation of newmineral resources near existing minesites.
Coordinate and supervise drillingactivities, including contract management, equipment selection, andresource allocation, to ensure effective and efficient explorationoutcomes.
Collaborate with geologists, engineers, and other stakeholders to design drilling programs that align withproject objectives, geological targets, and explorationpriorities.
Ensure high-quality data collection, analysis, and interpretation to identify potential mineraldeposits.
Interpret drilling results and providegeological insights and recommendations to support resourceestimation, optimization, and development planningdecisions.
Maintain accurate records ofexploration activities, geological data, and project progress.Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, anddocumentation for internal and externalstakeholders.
Stay updated with industryadvancements, new drilling technologies, and best practices, andapply them to improve drilling operations, exploration techniques, and resource development strategies.
Providetechnical guidance and support to explorationteams.
Fieldwork and Data Collection :
Conductgeological surveys in the field to collect rock, soil, and sedimentsamples.
Study the natural features of the Earth, including rock formations, fault lines, and mineraldeposits.
Map geological formations and record theirproperties, such as age, type, and structure.
Performsite assessments to evaluate potential natural hazards (e.g.,earthquakes, landslides).
2. LaboratoryAnalysis :
Analyze samples in labs to determine theircomposition, mineral content, and physicalproperties.
Use specialized instruments and techniques, such as microscopes and X-ray diffraction, to analyzematerials.
Interpret laboratory data to understand thegeological history and the processes that formed thesamples.
3. Research and Interpretation :
Studygeological processes like plate tectonics, volcanism, erosion, andsedimentation.
Analyze maps, satellite imagery, andseismic data to assess geological hazards, potential resources, andenvironmental impacts.
Produce reports and researchpapers that communicate findings and implications tostakeholders.
