IP Lawyer - Giga Project

Role Purpose THis giga project will be a hub for innovation, where established global businesses and emerging players can research, incubate and commercialize groundbreaking technologies to accelerate human progress. People here call themselves “dreamers and doers.” The Intellectual Property Office will be key to supporting inventors and businesses in protecting their creativity, imagination and intellectual property rights.

The Senior Manager of IP Operations is critical to ensuring that intellectual property (IP) rights are properly registered and protected. The role will develop and oversee the IP registration units - Trademarks & Designs, Patent, and Plant Variety Rights. In addition to building the unit teams, the role will be heavily involved in driving and developing operating procedures, for outsourced processes.

Key Accountabilities & Activities Functional Responsibilities The Senior Manager of IP Operations will have end-to-end responsibility over executing a world‑class function in the examination and registration of IP rights with the primary missions to :

Oversee and ensure operations across the IP registration functions, including trademarks, designs, geographical indications, patents, plant variety rights, copyright and database rights

Develop effective working practices and procedures for the division

Actively collaborate with direct reports to establish unit goals, track KPIs, and enhance performance

Identify and implement opportunities to enhance the client registration experience

Manage the division budget, costs and registration revenues, working closely with the Finance department

Coordinate with other stakeholders as fruitful to achieve IP operations goals (e.g., work‑sharing arrangements and training sessions with external IP offices, arranged with support from the IP office’s Manager of Strategic Partnerships)

Transitional Activities for Establishing Function Readiness

Hire, manage and develop internal teams of the IP office, with the responsibility to maintain a collaborative and motivating work environment

Collaborate with unit heads in the IP Operations division, and the work plan necessary for the units’ development

Ensure all IP registration units are activated on time and on / under budget, and ensure risks are identified and addressed on time

Perform other appropriate duties and responsibilities as requested by the Head of the IP office

Background, Skills & Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Law degree or a technical background; 13+ years of experience working in an IP operations or related role : clear vision and thorough understanding of the IP office’s registration and examination functions

Global management experience at a senior level

Cross‑functional awareness and time‑ and organizational‑management skills

Leadership and Mindset
