Overview
The Sustainability Manager at Qiddiya Investment Company is a pivotal role focused on shaping our sustainable development practices. In this position, you will lead and coordinate sustainability initiatives across all projects, ensuring that we not only meet compliance standards but also exceed them with innovative, eco-friendly solutions. Your main responsibilities will involve developing strategic sustainability programs, conducting assessments, and engaging with various stakeholders to promote sustainability awareness and practices within the organization. You will play a critical role in the development of a unique district within Qiddiya City.
Key Responsibilities
- As a key member of the development team, you will ensure that the designs of all assets within the district adhere to the defined KPIs of Qiddiya's Sustainability Framework (QSF).
- You will oversee the implementation of third‑party certifications for various assets, provide expert guidance to the development teams and ensure all assets achieve their green building certification goals (e.g., LEED, Mostadam, IFC EDGE) in accordance with the approved Asset Certification Strategy.
- Sustainable Design Integration : Provide technical guidance on sustainable design, KPI implementation, environmental requirements and green building principles to the integrated development teams throughout the design process.
- Ensure the designs of all assets within the district comply with Qiddiya's Sustainability Framework, policies, procedures, and applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Oversee the implementation and achievement of third‑party green building certifications (e.g., LEED, Mostadam, IFC EDGE) for various assets.
- Participate in preparing RFPs, scopes of work, agreements, and evaluations for procurement, providing inputs on sustainability and third‑party certification.
- Collaborate with delivery partners to ensure sustainable design intents are accurately translated into construction documents and that best practices are implemented on‑site to achieve certification requirements.
- Review sustainable design studies, green building certification reports, plans, narratives, and supporting documentation submitted by LDCs, provide expert commentary, and participate in the internal governance process.
- Conduct design reviews to ensure compliance with sustainability requirements and green building certification prerequisites and credits.
- Assess potential risks related to achieving sustainable design KPIs & certification goals and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Respond to RFIs and other technical queries and coordinate with stakeholders to obtain information as required.
- Collate and analyze sustainability indicators from asset designs to report on overall district’s and Qiddiya’s Sustainability KPIs.
- Analyze and evaluate primary and secondary sustainability and environmental information related to building design and performance using BI tools, spreadsheets, or other relevant tools.
- Stay updated on relevant sustainable design trends, green building certification systems, relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Conduct research, interpret regulations, and advise design teams and stakeholders on compliance requirements and sustainable design best practices.
- Conduct regular sustainability workshops to educate asset development teams and stakeholders on sustainable design principles, green building certification processes, QIC’s sustainability vision, framework, and ESG initiatives.
- Be able to read, analyze & challenge technical reports such as BOD, acoustics, microclimate, LCA, Energy Modeling, etc.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Manager, Sustainability.
Educational Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from a recognized university, preferably in Architectural, Civil or Mechanical Engineering.Master’s degree in Sustainability, Building Science, or a related field is preferred.Certifications
Holds a valid LEED AP credential for at least 5 years, with additional two sustainability credentials such as Mostadam AP, GSAS CGP, BREEAM Assessor, EDGE Expert, Envision SP, WELL AP, Holding CEM, Home Energy Rater, or any similar credential is a plus.Experience
Minimum 15 years of overall professional experience in engineering, with at least 10 years heavily focused on sustainable design, green building certification (LEED, Mostadam, IFC EDGE are key), and ESG practices.Proven experience integrating sustainability principles into the design of large‑scale, mixed‑use developments from concept through to construction documentation.Demonstrated track record of successfully managing and achieving LEED, IFC EDGE, Mostadam, BREEAM, or Envision certifications for multiple projects.Up‑to‑date knowledge of carbon accounting (especially embodied carbon in design), ESG reporting as it relates to sustainable development, decarbonization strategies for buildings, and Lifecycle Assessment (LCA) in design.Sufficient knowledge and understanding of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Biodiversity Reports, Microclimate Analyses, Acoustic Studies, Design Simulation, and Energy Models, particularly how they inform sustainable design outcomes.Technical Skills
Well‑versed in sustainability standards, certifications, and regulatory requirements.Experience with sustainability assessment tools and methodologies.Soft Skills
