Job Summary
Bechtel is looking for a Lead C&I Engineer who has extensive experience with planning and executing greenfield and brownfield with a proven track record seeking technical / leadership challenges in Control systems and Instrumentation field. The role focuses on planning and scheduling and conducting evaluations, selection of applications and adaptations of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria in one discipline in a project or staff group.
Major Responsibilities
Plans, develops, directs and participates in the day-to-day C&I engineering activity on large complex, or may be assigned responsibility for multiple smaller projects within a global business unit.Coordination of C&I activities in multiple execution centres and / or with joint venture partners, ensuring consistency throughout the design.Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of C&I engineering personnel, estimates staffing needs and schedules and assigns work accordingly.Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline jobhour estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly.Maintains contact with other disciplines to ensure the coordination of the work within the project(s) and compliance with Bechtel / client requirements.Reviews and makes recommendations for the C&I aspects of bid evaluations.Reviews and approves key calculations, design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings and change orders.Ensures that assigned C&I personnel receive appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development.Provides technical / expert support to project teams and ensures safety and technical quality is maintained.Provides input to and owns the engineering elements of a project capital estimate (proposals and execution) quantities and budgets for the discipline.Provides the technical input to meet Estimating and Procurement requirements.Provides technical support to internal and external customers.Provides input to, reviews and influences project schedule.Applies broad and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to project engineering.Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management.Makes decisions independently concerning problems within the discipline on the project.Represents the discipline on the project and with the client to resolve technical questions and as required to coordinate work.Promotes the creation of a work environment, supported by leadership, which fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.Education And Experience Requirements
A recognized degree in a job-related engineering or scientific discipline from an accredited college or university, or a professional license in an appropriate engineering discipline from a recognized licensing board.At least 15 years of experience in the Energy Transition, Petrochemical and / or Oil and Gas industry.Proven track record of leadership in a group supervisor role and strong familiarity with Bechtel’s own work processes and standards.Experience in executing Middle Eastern projects, brownfield experience and familiarity with Aramco standards and specifications is highly desirable.Extensive knowledge of applicable industry / regulatory codes and standards, and design.Required Knowledge And Skills
Pre-FEED, FEED and PMC experience and familiarity with current process technologies and licensors associated with the above.Extensive knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods.Extensive knowledge of precedents in the discipline and of principles and practices of related disciplines.Extensive knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved.Knowledge of, calculations, equipment, materials and software and methods of application for C&I discipline.Knowledge of control and safety systems, including the management of a Main Automation Contractor (MAC) and the BPCS, SIS, FGS and PLCs.Knowledge of instrumentation covering both primary and final elements.Experience of Safety Instrumented Functions, HAZOP and LOPA and certification as a Certified Functional Safety Professional (CFSP) or equivalent.High standard of oral and written communication, and use of MSOffice applications.Knowledge of typical Engineering Department Procedures, Design Guides, appropriate Standard Computer Applications and administrative practices.Demonstrated skill in leadership with significant prior supervisory experience required.Total Rewards / Benefits
