Overview
Supervisor, Lifting & Rigging role at International Maritime Industries — responsible for managing safe and efficient lifting or transfer operations in accordance with Company Policy, Quality Safety & Environmental Management System and international standards.
Responsibilities
- Timely identification of hazards and risks in lifting and transportation operations in which the role is involved; review and support documentation preparation and propose mitigation measures.
- Adopt a cost-conscious approach for utilization of equipment and manpower; report all work-related matters to Division & Department Management.
- Identify improvement opportunities in lifting and transportation operations to optimize cost, utilization, and lifecycle.
- Take accountability and initiative for managing, maintaining, and improving the company\'s health, safety and environmental performance.
- Prepare lifting plans in conjunction with the Lifting Engineer according to load handling requirements and available crane / lifting equipment.
- Lead assigned Foremen, crew members and contractors to successfully complete lifting and rigging requirements.
- Assist Foremen in distributing teams and assigning daily tasks based on operational priorities.
- Support Superintendents and the L&R Manager with planning and maximizing utilization & performance of department resources.
- Work closely with the Technical Service HSE Team to engineer out potential hazards and provide a safe working environment for all employees.
- Review and confirm that all safety and operational requirements are completed and checked prior to conducting any lifting or transfer operation.
- Maintain awareness and knowledge of applicable regulations and international standards (ISO, BS EN, ASME LEEA, LOLER) and ensure that lifting and rigging activities are compliant.
- Ensure that all requirements (method statement, risk assessment, lifting rigging study, and equipment) are adequately defined to meet operation, project, or contract requirements.
- Ensure all lifting and rigging tools used are within SWL, properly certified, and operational.
- Promote continual process improvement of lifting, rigging, and related processes.
- Support department management in recruitment, selection, training, certification of personnel, performance appraisals, and resolving problems with input from Technical Service Management.
Qualifications
Experience in preparing lifting plans in conjunction with Lifting Engineers and coordinating with crane / lifting equipment providers.Ability to lead Foremen, crew members and contractors to achieve lifting and rigging objectives.Knowledge of applicable regulations and international standards (ISO, BS EN, ASME LEEA, LOLER) and ensuring compliance of lifting and rigging activities.Ability to review method statements, risk assessments, lifting studies, and equipment suitability to meet project requirements.Strong focus on safety, cost control, and continuous improvement of lifting operations and equipment utilization.Experience in recruitment, training, certification, performance appraisal, and team development with input from management.Seniority level
