Responsibilities
Customs Documentation :
Prepare and process all customs documentation, including import / export declarations, commercial invoices, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and other relevant paperwork.
Compliance :
Ensure compliance with all applicable customs laws, regulations, and trade agreements, as well as company policies.
Customs Clearance Process :
Submit customs declarations to customs authorities and ensure timely clearance of goods to avoid delays or fines.
Liaison with Customs Authorities :
Act as the primary point of contact between customs authorities, shipping companies, and the company to resolve any customs issues or discrepancies.
Tariff Classification & Duties :
Calculate and verify customs duties, tariffs, and taxes, ensuring accuracy and minimizing costs.
Record Keeping :
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all customs documents and transactions.
Problem Resolution :
Address and resolve any issues or delays related to customs clearance, including working with customs brokers or third-party service providers.
Consultation & Advice :
Provide guidance to internal teams or clients regarding import / export regulations, classification of goods, and documentation requirements.
Risk Management :
Identify potential risks in the customs clearance process, such as non-compliance or delays, and take proactive measures to mitigate these risks.
Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor’s degree preferably in logistics and supply chain management
Minimum 4 years of Customs Clearance or Cross Border experience required.
Experience in or exposure to logistics and ecommerce, preferred.
