Job Title : Safety Officer
Division : HSSE
Department : HSE
Role Purpose :
To support the implementation of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulations and fostering a safe working environment. The role focuses on conducting inspections, supporting risk assessments, and assisting in the promotion of HSE awareness across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing and monitoring HSE policies and procedures.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure safety protocols are followed.
- Identify unsafe practices and recommend corrective measures.
- Support supervisors in conducting risk assessments to identify hazards.
- Participate in incident investigations and assist in preparing root cause analyses.
- Help implement corrective / preventive measures to address identified risks.
- Monitor daily compliance with HSE regulations and company standards.
- Report non-compliance issues to supervisors and recommend action plans.
- Assist in conducting emergency drills and maintaining readiness for potential incidents.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and corrective actions.
- Assist in preparing reports for supervisors and management.
- Ensure all documentation is compliant with regulatory and organizational requirements.
- Support supervisors in conducting HSE training sessions for employees and contractors.
- Participate in awareness campaigns and promote a culture of safety.
- Provide basic guidance to employees on safety practices and regulations.
Qualifications
Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in an HSE role.Basic understanding of HSE laws, regulations, and standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001, ISO 14001).Experience in safety inspections, incident reporting, and assisting with risk assessments.Familiarity with emergency preparedness and response procedures.Strong interpersonal skills to work with teams and promote safety awareness.Diploma or bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.Certifications such as NEBOSH IGC, IOSH, OSHA 30-Hour, or equivalent are preferred.First Aid certification is a plus.Ability to identify hazards and recommend appropriate control measures.Proficiency in preparing HSE reports and maintaining records.Basic knowledge of incident investigation techniques and tools.Familiarity with safety equipment and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).Competency in using basic HSE software and tools for reporting and inspections.Benefits
