Sr. Project Inspector (mechanical)

QUALIFICATIONS :

1. Engineering or Technical School Graduate of Mechanical Engineering.

2. Must be able to read, write and speak English language.

3. 15 years industrial construction experience including 10 years inspection related experience in a given inspection specialty.

4. Shall be fully conversant with internationally known industry standards and specifications.

5. Must be able to demonstrate a thorough working knowledge and experiences in liquid penetrate, magnetic particle, ultrasonic thickness gauging, and radiographic film interpretation. He must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of codes such as ASME Section I, V, VIII & IX, ASME B31.3, and API 1104. He must be currently AWS Certified Welding Inspector or equivalent. When reviewing NDT or conducting Film Interpretation shall meet or be able to meet within a few days of assignment the requirements of SAEP 1142.

Job Specification

1. Perform a variety of complex inspection functions within the assigned inspection discipline in addition to providing day-to-day work directions as required for the inspection of new or existing facilities assuring that materials are correct for the intended service, work performed conforms with engineering specifications and / or SAUDI ARAMCO Standards, and monitor the implementation of the project Quality Control Program with minimal supervision. Examples of that, but not limited to :

a) Monitors non-destructive testing examination results to determine defects, corrosion, mechanical damage, or blockages and makes recommendations for repair or replacement as required.

b) Performs all types of equipment inspection including that which requires the use of calipers, micrometers, infrared camera, boroscope, pit gauges, etc. to assure continued safe operation.

c) Performs all tests and inspections on equipment that has been repaired or modified to assure that the equipment meets the manufacturers and / or SAUDI ARAMCO's specifications and ASME code requirements.

d) Performs all necessary inspections for the installation of hot tap, weld plus ends repair sleeves, or any welding that is required on piping or equipment while in service.

e) Monitors heat treatment of piping, vessels, and equipment.

f) Witness hydrostatic and / or pneumatic tests on piping and reviews Hydrostatic, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams and Safety Instruction Sheets to assure that the correct pressure is used and that relief valves are properly set and installed.

g) Performs welder and welding procedure qualification tests.

h) Monitors all aspects of welding operation on new or existing equipment.

2. Review and comment on revisions to the SAUDI ARAMCO and Industry standards.

3. Review and comment on quality control programs developed in construction contractors.

4. Perform in-depth design reviews to verify conformance to company engineering standards and specifications on projects in the design and construction stage.

5. Write inspection Reports, Worksheets, Non-Compliance Reports and make Log Book entries of on-site inspection findings and maintain inspection records.

6. Perform other miscellaneous related duties as directed by the field supervisor.

7. Train SAUDI ARAMCO personnel.

8. Review inspection waiver requests to ensure they accurately represent the condition described.
