Job Description

Function / Role :

Responsible for overseeing the testing, commissioning, and verification of systems and equipment to ensure they meet the specified performance standards and operational requirements of a Data Center.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

Developing Testing and Commissioning Plans : Develop detailed testing and commissioning plans tailored to the data center’s specific systems (e.g., electrical, mechanical, IT) to outline objectives, procedures, and timelines. Establish clear acceptance criteria and performance benchmarks for each system to ensure they meet operational requirements. Coordination and Oversight : Coordinate with various teams, including engineers, contractors, and subcontractors, to ensure smooth execution of testing and commissioning activities. Allocate resources effectively, ensuring that testing and commissioning activities are adequately staffed and supported. System Testing and Validation : Oversee the testing of all critical systems, including power distribution units (PDUs), uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), cooling systems, fire alarm systems, and network infrastructure. Validate that all systems operate within specified parameters under various load conditions, including normal, peak, and fault conditions. Commissioning Process Management : Ensure that the commissioning process is conducted systematically, following established procedures and protocols. Document all testing and commissioning results, identifying any issues or deficiencies that arise during the process. Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution : Diagnose any problems identified during testing and commissioning, working with engineering and technical teams to find effective solutions. Develop and implement corrective actions for any deficiencies or issues encountered during testing. Reporting and Documentation : Generate comprehensive reports detailing the testing and commissioning activities, including outcomes, issues encountered, and resolutions. Ensure all final documentation, including as-built drawings, operation manuals, and maintenance procedures, is completed and submitted to stakeholders. Collaboration with Stakeholders : Work closely with clients and end-users throughout the commissioning process, providing updates and addressing any concerns they may have. Provide training to operational staff on system functionality and maintenance, ensuring they understand how to operate and troubleshoot systems. Safety and Compliance : Ensure that all testing and commissioning activities are conducted in compliance with safety regulations and best practices. Identify and mitigate risks associated with the testing and commissioning of systems in the data center.

Skills

Testing and Commissioning Knowledge :

In-depth understanding of testing and commissioning processes for various systems (e.g., electrical, mechanical, HVAC, security).

Standards and Regulations :

Familiarity with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., ISO, IEC, NEC).

Problem-Solving :

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve issues during testing and commissioning.

Data Analysis :

Ability to analyze test results and performance data to ensure systems meet required specifications.

Team Collaboration :

Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with project teams, contractors, and clients.

Reporting :

Proficiency in preparing comprehensive reports and documentation related to testing and commissioning activities.

Detail Orientation :

Attention to detail to ensure all aspects of testing and commissioning are thoroughly addressed.

Team Leadership :

Ability to lead and motivate a team of engineers and technicians during the testing and commissioning process.
