Shift Supervisor Job Title : Shift Supervisor Reporting To : Shift Charge Engineer Job Summary : Assist the Shift Charge Engineer and ensure all activities are performed safely and efficiently as per SOPs, quality standards, schedules, and operating requirements. Responsible for safe startup / shutdown of the plant as per SOPs.Key Responsibilities Comply with safety rules and regulations and be fully aware of plant safety hazards Be familiar with plant P&IDs, SOPs, work instructions, operation / control logics, emergency procedures, and related documents Ensure operations follow established plans and schedules; summarize shift activities in logbook and ensure proper handover Supervise plant operators, provide direction for safe and efficient plant operation, and ensure adherence to procedures Supervise and direct plant operators during startup, isolation, and shutdown activities Remain alert and take quick action during plant emergencies Supervise pre-start checks, equipment changeovers, protection and interlock tests; coordinate chemistry activities with lab Upon engineer authorization, issue work permits; understand and apply permit-to-work procedures; normalize equipment post-maintenance and perform testing Coordinate with maintenance teams during plant activities Handle routine communications with Load Dispatch Center during shift Report any plant performance deviations to Shift Charge Engineer Assist in training and familiarization of new shift personnel; provide OJT and evaluate performance Plan and maintain good housekeeping Identify competency gaps in subordinates and support skill enhancement Conduct annual performance evaluations of reporting employees Identify and control hazards in assigned work area Monitor identified aspects and ensure operational controls are followed Report emergencies, incidents, and near misses Ensure effective resource utilization Perform other duties as assignedEducational Requirements Desired : Degree in Engineering Preferred : Certified training in Power / Desalination plantsMinimum Experience Minimum : 6 years in Power / Desalination plant Preferable : Experience in Middle EastRequired Skills Awareness of Quality, Occupational Health & Safety, and Environmental Management System principles Knowledge of applicable legal requirements In-depth knowledge of hazard risk assessment Capability for aspect impact assessment Experience in waste identification, classification, and disposal Knowledge of emission monitoring parameters Familiarity with Power / Desalination operational activities Interpersonal communication skills Teamwork spirit Leadership skillsDesired Certification / Job-Specific Skills / Training SAP working knowledge preferred ISO 9001, 14001, OHSAS 18001 awareness / working knowledge preferredShift Supervisor
