The Senior Sales Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely recording of all sales-related financial transactions. This role plays a critical part in revenue recognition, validation of discounts and rebates, and reconciliation of trade marketing activities. The position requires close coordination with the sales, commercial, and finance teams to ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and alignment with contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure timely and accurate posting of sales invoices, returns, credit notes, and debit notes in the ERP system.
- Recognize revenue in compliance with applicable accounting standards (e.g., IFRS 15).
- Coordinate with sales teams to validate pricing structures, discounts, and terms to minimize customer reconciliation issues.
Discounts & Trade Spend
Review and validate promotional activities, discounts, and trade rebates prior to processing.Track accruals for trade spend, ensuring timely settlement and accurate reflection in financial records.Reconcile rebate accounts and support analysis of promotional effectiveness.Month-End & Year-End Close
Process monthly credit and debit notes in accordance with closing timelines.Record customer collections and apply them against open receivables on a regular basis thereby keeping aging intact.Prepare customer aging reports and support Expected Credit Loss (ECL) analysis in collaboration with the GL team.Identify high-risk or exceptional items such as uncollectible balances and legal disputes and support appropriate provisioning upon management approval.Perform account reconciliations and obtain customer balance confirmations at each reporting period.Circulate monthly Statements of Account (SOA) and issue dunning letters where necessary.Reporting & Analysis
Prepare and reconcile sales data between operational systems (e.g., Sales Buzz) and the ERP.Provide financial insights and reports to commercial and sales teams to support business reviews and planning cycles.Audit & Compliance
Maintain audit-ready documentation for all sales-related transactions.Ensure proper coding, approvals, and supporting evidence for revenue and promotional accounting entries.Adhere to internal controls and company policies related to revenue recognition and trade spending.Qualifications & Requirements
Education : Bachelor’s / master’s degree in accounting, Finance.
Experience : 4–7 years of experience in sales accounting in manufacturing, FMCG, or retail.
Language : Fluent in English (spoken and written).
Technical Skills : Strong knowledge of accounting principles, hands‑on ERP experience (preferably Dynamics 365), proficiency in Excel.
Soft Skills : High attention to detail, accuracy and cross-functional coordination, problem‑solving skills.
