Job Description (Roles & Responsibilities) Select, source, and purchase products for the store based on customer demand, market trends, sales data, and profitability.
Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, distributors, and wholesalers for competitive pricing and product availability.
Negotiate purchase rates, discounts, payment terms, rebates, credit periods, and delivery schedules.
Monitor stock levels, fast / slow-moving items, and coordinate with warehouse and store teams to ensure availability.
Analyse sales performance, customer behaviour, competitor pricing, and suggest new products or delisting of non-performing items.
Prepare purchase orders, approve supplier invoices, and ensure timely delivery of goods.
Ensure purchased products meet quality standards, halal / health regulations, expiry dates, and packaging requirements.
Work closely with merchandising, inventory, accounts, and store operations teams for smooth product flow.
Plan promotional deals, bundle offers, seasonal campaigns, and coordinate with marketing team.
Track market prices, inflation trends, and adjust buying strategy to maintain profit margins.
Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Marketing, Retail Management, or equivalent.
2–5 years of experience in purchasing / procurement in hypermarkets, supermarkets, FMCG, or retail industry.
Experience in purchasing for specific categories such as grocery, fresh food, non-food, cosmetics, electronics, etc. is an advantage.
