Waste Management Officer

Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook). Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Willingness to work overtime or flexible shifts if required. Hazardous waste handling, classification, segregation, and labeling Waste inventory management and record keeping Environmental compliance and reporting according to local regulations Spill response and clean‑up procedures Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety awareness Coordination with waste vendors and disposal services Basic knowledge of environmental standards (e.g., COSHH, ISO 14001) Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Effective communication and teamwork abilities Problem‑solving and proactive approach Ability to work independently and under pressure Time management and adaptability
Purpose of the Role
To ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient handling, segregation, storage, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste in accordance with local environmental regulations and company policies. The role also supports sustainability goals through waste reduction, recycling initiatives, and environmental best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and classify hazardous and non-hazardous waste according to regulations.
- Ensure proper waste segregation, containerization, labeling, and documentation.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety equipment in the waste storage area.
- Prepare waste for shipment and coordinate with licensed waste disposal vendors.
- Track waste inventory and maintain up-to-date waste logs and records.
- Monitor and order necessary supplies (containers, labels, PPE, etc.).
- Work closely with environmental and facility teams to support waste minimization and recycling efforts.
- Assist in environmental inspections and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- Support in reporting, photo documentation, and filing of vendor waste acceptance forms.
- Be available to assist with minor spills or leaks and initiate proper clean‑up protocols.
