Overview
The Engineering Director is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing engineering functions across EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) and Manufacturing business units, focusing on large-scale water projects and related infrastructure in the MENA region. Leading a team of approximately 50 engineers, you will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with regional safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. This role demands a strategic thinker with deep technical expertise in water engineering, a strong leadership presence, and a commitment to innovation and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute engineering strategies aligned with company objectives in the water sector.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the design, planning, and execution of major water projects, including desalination, wastewater treatment, and water infrastructure.
- Ensure all engineering deliverables meet quality standards, technical specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide expert guidance on complex engineering challenges in water and infrastructure projects.
- Drive the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and sustainable solutions tailored to regional conditions.
- Ensure adherence to local and international standards, environmental regulations, and safety protocols.
- Support permitting, approvals, and compliance documentation for projects.
- Act as the primary technical representative, engaging with clients, government authorities, contractors, and suppliers.
- Negotiate project terms and present engineering solutions to key stakeholders.
- Streamline engineering workflows to enhance efficiency and project execution.
- Champion sustainable and eco-friendly engineering practices in all projects.
- Manage engineering budgets, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation.
- Optimize team productivity while maintaining high project profitability.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Process, or Water Resources Engineering.Professional Engineering (PE) certification or equivalent is a plus.20+ years of progressive experience in EPC projects within the Oil & Gas, Energy, or Water sectors, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.Proven track record in delivering large-scale water projects (desalination, wastewater treatment, infrastructure) in the GCC or similar regions.Strong familiarity with MENA regulatory frameworks, environmental standards, and permitting processes.Expertise in water treatment technologies, hydraulic systems, and infrastructure design.Proficiency in engineering software (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, or similar).Knowledge of project management tools (Primavera, MS Project, etc.).Exceptional team leadership, mentorship, and conflict resolution abilities.Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.Ability to thrive in a multicultural, fast-paced environment.Strategic problem-solving and data-driven decision-making.Languages
