Job Purpose
To oversee cost accounting, cash reconciliations, and inventory control for APSCO’s retail operations. The role ensures accuracy in financial reporting, alignment between retail systems and ERP, and proper monitoring of retail branch performance. This position plays a vital role in safeguarding revenues, controlling costs, and ensuring integrity of daily transactions across multiple retail branches. Key Responsibilities
Cost Accounting & Control : Prepare and analyze cost reports for retail operations, monitoring variances vs. budget. Implement and maintain allocation methods for retail-related expenses. Ensure accurate posting of retail-related cost entries in ERP. Systems Reconciliation : Work with retail team software (POS and branch-level systems) to reconcile transactions with ERP (JD Edwards). Perform regular system-to-system reconciliations to ensure accuracy of sales, collections, and inventory. Resolve discrepancies by coordinating with retail and IT teams. Cash Reconciliation : Monitor and review daily cash reconciliations from retail branches. Investigate variances between cash collected, POS sales, and bank deposits. Prepare daily and monthly reconciliation reports for management. Inventory Control : Monitor stock movements, inventory levels, and branch transfers. Perform periodic reconciliations between physical stock counts and system balances. Analyze shrinkage, damages, or losses and recommend corrective actions. Coordinate with supply chain and retail operations on inventory control measures. Reporting & Support : Support month-end closing by preparing accruals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Provide management with regular reports on retail performance, margins, and variances. Assist in audits (internal and external) by providing documentation and explanations. Qualifications
Education & Certification : Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. Professional certification (SOCPA, CMA, ACCA) preferred. Experience : 7–10 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in retail or FMCG sectors. Hands-on experience with branch-level cash reconciliations and inventory control. Familiarity with ERP systems (JD Edwards preferred) and retail / POS systems. Required Skills
Technical Skills : Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and inventory management. Proficiency in Excel, reconciliation techniques, and variance analysis. Ability to integrate and reconcile multiple systems (ERP, POS, retail platforms). Soft Skills : Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. High attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple tasks across numerous branches. Good communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams. Fluency in English required; Arabic is an advantage.
