Overview
Engages in the role of an aircraft structural repairman, conducting inspections, repairs, and replacements of various aircraft structural components, including stringers, longerons, bulkheads, beams, and aircraft skin. Adheres to directives, technical manuals, safety procedures, and blueprints during these tasks. Fabricates structural parts and forming blocks, employing metal shaping techniques such as stretching and shrinking. Additionally, applies fiberglass materials and performs unscheduled emergency and permanent repairs to transparent plastic windows and enclosures. Utilizes common measuring tools, precision measuring gauges, and alignment fixtures for structural repairs. Applies primers and paints to aircraft surfaces, conducts corrosion control treatment on aircraft metals, and manages requisitions and maintenance of shop and bench stock items for aircraft structure repairs. Performs operator maintenance on common special tools, prepares forms, and maintains records related to maintenance activity. Provides necessary training to Saudi National Guard soldiers and ensures that all associated operations prioritize safety.
Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and synchronize structural aircraft maintenance activities to achieve platform operational readiness in accordance with contractual requirements. Ensure compliance with maintenance systems, processes, procedures, and reports providing immediate situational awareness of platform OR rates. Oversee daily structural maintenance management of individually assigned aircraft in support of the Production Control (PC) Manager, with Aviation Logistics for related parts and spares. Direct inquiries, investigations, and research analysis related to aviation maintenance to the PC Manager. Work within maintenance quality control processes, procedures, and standards; coordinate maintenance operations support through the PC Manager. Document training using automated training management systems and coordinate daily / weekly maintenance training activities with the PC Manager. Ensure all maintenance operations are conducted safely and, in coordination with the PC Manager, support the Downed Aircraft Recovery Team (DART) processes and procedures. Assist in establishing daily training maintenance operational goals with lead trainer and oversee daily maintenance training management in support of the Aviation Maintenance Manager and related logistics activities. Perform other duties as assigned and operate within broad guidelines with significant choice of methods.
Qualifications
High school diploma required; associate degree preferred. Ten (10) years’ experience performing aircraft structural repairs; Five (5) years required for A&P context; former Aviation Quality or Production Control preferred. US Military or civilian technical trainer experience; graduate of a US Military aircraft maintenance course or civilian equivalent. Experience in overseas contracting environments; proficiency with computer-hosted interactive technical manuals and aircraft forms. Demonstrated maintenance experience on rotary wing aircraft; valid driver’s license; DD214 required for military experience. Ability to pass medical, drug testing, background checks; leadership experience in a military maintenance unit; strong knowledge of military logistics procedures.
