Chief Accountant

Chief Accountant – Arabic Speaking We are currently recruiting a Chief Accountant – Arabic Speaking with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the construction industry.

Main Activities

Oversee all accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and integrity.

Key Responsibilities 1. Accounting Operations & Reporting

Supervise daily accounting activities including general ledger entries, accounts payable and receivable, payroll accounting, and fixed asset management.

Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end closing processes.

Review and approve journal entries and ensure all reconciliations are properly performed and documented.

Maintain up-to-date and compliant accounting records in alignment with International Accounting Standards (IAS) and company policies.

Prepare and validate internal reports and ensure alignment with external audit requirements.

2. Compliance & Internal Controls

Ensure compliance with local accounting regulations, tax laws, and labor requirements.

Develop, implement, and monitor internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial records.

Regularly assess and improve accounting processes to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and control.

Support external audits by preparing required documentation and addressing any audit findings or recommendations.

3. ERP & System Oversight

Ensure accurate data entry and proper use of ERP systems across all accounting functions.

Lead the implementation of system improvements and upgrades in coordination with the IT and operational teams.

Provide training and support to accounting staff on ERP usage and compliance.

Lead and mentor the accounting team, ensuring clear responsibilities, performance standards, and continuous professional development.

Coordinate with HR for payroll-related accounting and employee cost allocation.

Collaborate with project teams and departments to ensure alignment on accounting procedures and project cost tracking.

Act as the point of contact for accounting-related inquiries and provide guidance on accounting policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Experience Required

Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.

Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 10 years in a supervisory or managerial role, ideally in the construction industry.

Solid knowledge of International Accounting Standards (IAS / IFRS) and local compliance requirements.

Proven experience in managing accounting teams and complex organizational structures.

Strong command of ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.

Detail-oriented, well-organized, and capable of working under pressure and tight deadlines.
