Application Specialist

الوصف الوظيفيLead all technology activities related to the application, including complaint investigations, product trials, and customer service. Ensure issues are resolved quickly and rigorously using the right resources and expertise. Play a key role in the design, planning, execution, validation, and commercialization of new products within the NPD framework by setting technical targets, supporting qualification trials, and aligning objectives with business priorities. Act as the main technical contact for customers , driving collaboration on complaint resolution, technical support, and joint product development. Provide clear and structured feedback on project progress and new product developments to business leaders and the technology community, ensuring alignment with Astra Polymers’ strategy. Consolidate and expand Astra’s technical knowledge on applications, raw materials, converting technologies, and competitor activities. Ensure high-quality documentation (memos, reports, test procedures, work instructions, and presentations) is developed and maintained. Build a visible and respected presence in the technical community by representing Astra Polymers at conferences, seminars, and workshops. Promote Astra’s leadership through technical presentations and industry engagement. Partner with Sales & Marketing to shape and support business strategy for the application area, ensuring technical capabilities align with market opportunities and customer needs. Education & Technical Expertise Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemistry , Chemical Engineering, or related field . 5 to 10 years working experience in Polymer's industry with the same job profiles. Profound knowledge of polymers, additives, analytical techniques, and polymer conversion equipment . Specialist knowledge of end-use applications (e.g., packaging, agriculture, industrial sectors ). Professional Experience Proven track record in project management , including new product design, testing, validation, and commercialization. Experience in customer technical support, product proposals, and business development . Skilled at analysing technical data and guiding cross-functional development teams. Skills & Tools Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems, and project management tools ; adaptable to internal software platforms. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities with focus on results under tight deadlines. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to interact at all organizational levels. Personal Attributes Team player with an international outlook, strong interpersonal skills, and collaborative mindset. Stress-resistant, flexible , and open to dynamic environments. Commercial awareness with sufficient language proficiency; Arabic is a plus . Willingness to travel internationally up to 50% .

The Application Specialist is the technical leader and reference point for a specialized application area within Astra Polymers. This role combines deep technical expertise, customer interaction, and innovation to strengthen Astra’s position in global markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical expert on applications, processing methods, conversion techniques, and competitor technologies.
- Maintain expert knowledge of Astra’s product portfolio, customer needs, and market opportunities .
- Actively participate in R&D and technical service projects , defining product specifications, supporting trials, and driving innovation.
- Collaborate with Sales & Marketing to align application strategies with business priorities.
- Lead customer technical interactions , including complaint investigations, product qualifications, and joint developments.
- Consolidate and manage Astra’s technical knowledge base through documentation, bulletins, and training.
- Represent Astra Polymers as a recognized technical expert at conferences, workshops, and customer seminars.
- Deliver internal and external training to colleagues, sales teams, and customers.
