Specialist, Operation (MED & MSF)

Job Purpose

Lead daily operational activities of Desal (MSF / MED) plant to ensure proper operation, maintenance, safety, reliability and efficiency of the Plant and related auxiliaries and provide support and assistance to Manager, Desal operation.

Responsibilities

• Attend the daily PDR meeting to review and plan maintenance jobs as per notifications raised in order to resolve maintenance issues.
• Ensure compliance to all relevant safety, quality and environmental management procedures and controls across water production to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality service and a responsible environmental attitude.
• Participate in the weekly planning and scheduling meetings for planning of maintenance jobs to be executed, with a view to avoid unplanned outages.
• Coordinate with concern departments to ensure availability of operation resources such as chemicals, tags, and all other resources to ensure smooth operation.
• Prepare shift schedule and arrange shift coverage during plan and unplan absence to avoid disturbance of shift attendance.
• Prepare daily operation program and arrange for critical operation activities.
• Review Shift Supervisor logbook, notification orders and readings of parameter trends, in order evaluate and troubleshoot problems as well as coordinate with other functions to resolve such problems.
• Prepare technical and statistical reports as required and perform daily operational process analysis.
• Review plans for shutdowns and plant Inspections for Annual Overhaul / maintenance programs in coordination with concern departments.
• Witness the testing and commissioning of the equipment post shut down to ensure all maintenance work has been undertaken effectively.
• Tour all plant premises, in order to ascertain readiness of plant, equipment and auxiliaries to continue in an operating mode, and ensure no plant leaks and any other conditions that endanger plant personnel and assets.
• Act and response to emergencies, taking appropriate steps to stabilize the problem while simultaneously informing Manager, Director and other parties as indicated in the procedures to safeguard unit and possibly personnel.
• Develop and update standard operating procedures and work instructions for the plant and its auxiliaries.
• Maintain accurate shift records of events, machine status and operations so that all critical information is concisely communicated between shifts.
• Coordinate and participate in all activities conducted by other departments and projects such as PRM / RBI / PES.
• Raise technical service requests for improvement of operational issues and process modifications.
• Monitor all regulations and standards and prepare required reports as per frequency needed.
• Investigate and report incidents, suggest changes in operations mode.
