Vessel Operations Engineer at Global Projects Services AG for Saipem — LTA Saudi Arabia. Location : Saudi Arabia. Duration : 12 months renewable contract. Working hours : 5 days x 10 hours onshore. Start Date : ASAP.

Job Description
The primary mission of the Operation Engineer is to lead the readiness for the vessel operations and act as the project representative on board the vessel. During project preparation, collaborate with the Project Operations Manager and Vessel Asset Manager to verify procedures and implement efficient, cost-effective solutions. Identify missing points and optimize equipment for on-board use. During project execution, serve as the reference point between the project team and Vessel Management Team, and propose modifications to improve operations based on input from on-board management and client representatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with QA / QC & HSE requirements.
- Review project documentation, report errors / omissions, and suggest improvements.
- Assist in liaising with Client Representatives and subcontractors.
- Monitor progress and advise if schedule or execution changes are needed.
- Support Vessel Management Team in planning / execution of work and technical requirements.
- Participate in resolving technical problems.
- Provide operational input / support to onshore project teams.
- Liaise with Installation / Method Engineers during preparatory / mobilization / installation phases.
- Review installation procedures, loadout, and sea fastening plans for offshore transport to ensure safe / timely installation.
- Ensure completeness of construction materials / consumables lists and coordinate procurement / delivery.
- Coordinate with Mobile Equipment, Asset, Piptec, ROV, Trenching, precommissioning, and Hook-up to ensure timely availability of personnel / equipment.
- Witness / inspect pre-rigging / loadouts / sea fastening activities.
- Identify deviations from procedures and manage as requested.
- Coordinate with Fabrication Dept for loadout of fabricated structures / installation aids.
- Provide input for engineering close-out reports to improve standards and guidelines.
- Lead project planning efficiency improvements (installation aids reuse, tensioner pad changes, equipment mobilization / demobilization, ROV tooling consistency).
- Coordinate interfaces with all departments related to scope (engineering, installation engineering, procurement, post-order services, assets).
- Follow-up procurement and logistics of installation aids.
- Lead subcontracting activities (e.g., survey & positioning, ROV services, NDT, diving, precommissioning).
- Interface with procurement / fabrication for delivery of items to offshore site and related transport / Vessel preparation.
- Lead installation vessel qualifications towards the client and HR / equipment preparation for installation vessels.
- Attend fabrication facilities to ensure readiness for transport to site of fabricated items.
- Coordinate offshore operations on board as project representative and compile DPRs (Daily Progress Reports).
- As required, compile information for project close-out and invoicing.
Job Specifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Structural, Marine or Civil Engineering.Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in offshore construction activities.Experience with Heavy Lift Vessels (HLV), Pipelay Vessels, Dive Support Vessels (DSV), and Cable Laying Vessels (CLV) is a plus.Excellent communication and coordination skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.Special Skills / Knowledge
Familiar with industry codes and standards applicable to offshore Oil & Gas facilities design, construction and installation.Knowledgeable in various offshore pipeline, jacket and topside installation techniques and related installation factors affecting design, costs and schedule.How to Apply
