About the role
The Psychiatry Consultant will provide advanced psychiatric care to patients, ensuring high clinical standards and adherence to evidence-based practices. The role involves conducting comprehensive assessments, developing treatment plans, managing complex psychiatric cases, and ensuring continuity of care. The consultant will also support junior staff, participate in multidisciplinary meetings, and contribute to the department’s educational and training activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized psychiatric evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment for patients across various age groups.
- Manage acute and chronic mental health conditions using pharmacological and therapeutic interventions.
- Lead multidisciplinary case discussions and collaborate effectively with psychologists, social workers, and other clinicians.
- Supervise residents, fellows, and junior staff as required.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and research activities when applicable.
- Ensure patient-centered care with respect, empathy, and professionalism.
- Carry out additional duties within the scope of expertise as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education & Professional QualificationMedical degree from a recognized university.Completed internship and residency in Psychiatry.Post-graduate qualification in Psychiatry (e.g., MD, or equivalent).Experience
Minimum of three (3) years post-specialization experience in a tertiary care setting.Subspecialty training (e.g., Child Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry) is preferred.Licensure & Certifications
Board Certification / Membership / Fellowship in Psychiatry.Valid license from the country of origin, eligible for classification and registration with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS).Summary
