Project Overview Bechtel has led and delivered complex aviation projects across the globe for over 80 years, including major airport developments in the GCC. The current project seeks a VHTS Engineer to support the design, construction, and commissioning of the Advanced People Mover system at a new Riyadh airport.

Job Summary In this role, you will supervise and manage the work of the customer’s designers and contractors in delivering the VHTS system. You will prepare estimates, work plans, and progress reports, and assist with tender evaluation and award recommendations. Your coordination with Terminal Delivery, Contracts & Procurement, and Start‑up / Commissioning teams will be essential throughout the project lifecycle.

Major Responsibilities

Supervise the customer’s designers and contractors for VHTS system design.

Review technical submissions related to VHTS assets.

Support procurement and post‑tender technical evaluation.

Monitor progress and performance of designers and contractors.

Coordinate with Stakeholder Management to obtain necessary permits and approvals.

Assist Construction & Quality teams with RFIs, change requests, NCRs, and inspections.

Coordinate vendor factory testing and inspections of VHTS assets.

Support Start‑up / Commissioning activities from design through execution.

Integrate VHTS asset design across disciplines and work packages.

Act as the subject‑matter expert and document engineering deliverables.

Conduct audits, generate reports, and present findings on engineering processes.

Prepare verification packages to facilitate asset turnover.

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in engineering.

Minimum 8 years of relevant VHTS engineering experience.

Professional accreditation with an internationally recognized body.

Required Knowledge and Skills

Experience designing, constructing, testing, and operating APM / VHTS systems.

Knowledge of design codes such as EN115, EN81, ASME 17.1, and NFPA.

Understanding of sustainability requirements and LEED accreditation.

Airline industry and regulatory knowledge for airport design.

Integration of VHTS with BMS / SCADA and other airport systems.

Interface management between system-to-system and system-to-civil interfaces.

Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and BIM processes.
