• Responsible for the preventative maintenance of a processing plant.
• Responsible for 6 subordinates and 49-52 employees.
• Responsible for serving internal customers.
• Responsible for liaison with suppliers both internal & external.

Job Context :

Standard working hours are 8 hours a day, 6 days a week.

Office located on HADCO about ten kilometers from accommodation.

Stress levels in relation to competence of team.

Management position, so physical nature is basically walking area of responsibility.

Person Specification

Qualifications :

Essential : Degree in Engineering, Mechanical / Electrical Engineering.

Desirable : Trade experience (Electrical & Mechanical), Training in Bio-security, Experience in SAP, Basic understanding of Engineering & Refrigeration, HR, Finance for managers, HASAP, ISO9001, ISO22000, HSS, GMP, & Risk Management.

Experience :

Essential : Minimum 10 years experience in relevant Maintenance Management of a similar level, out of which 5 years Management of a similar level.

Understanding of Computer Control Systems (PLCs).

Clear understanding of Ammonia Refrigeration, mechanical items, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, electrical distribution systems including generators, switch gear, MCCS, etc.

Understands RO Plant.

Desirable : 15 years experience in maintenance management in the Poultry industry.

Job Specification

Core Purpose of Job : To manage the team in providing a high quality, engineering service to the Farming Operation within the required costs to the development of a competent team with adequate training and motivation. Ensuring the Engineering operation complies with the Company policies in terms of HSS, Bio-Security. Manage a comprehensive preventative maintenance program to assist the operation to achieve production targets as determined by the budget.

Areas of Responsibility (AOR) and Success Indicators :

Developing and managing a preventative maintenance program for the various sectors of the operation.

Managing effective workshops and construction teams to supply a service to the operation.

Compile and update the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the operation.

Compile and manage the operational Budget for the Engineering Operation in conjunction with the Financial Department.

Compile and manage the Capex Budget for the Engineering Operation in conjunction with the Financial Department.

Management of Contractors and works contracts.

Management of a succession plan and employee evaluation for the operation in conjunction with HR Department.

Development of Supplier / Customer relations.

Execute projects whenever required.

Selection and development of subordinates in conjunction with the HR Department.

Ensure a safe environment within to work in conjunction with the HSS Department.

Activities :

Inspection of works - Daily.

Evaluation of the team's performance on the Computerized Maintenance Management System - Daily.

Scheduling & monitoring the various programs : Preventative Maintenance, Contracts, Capital Expenditure.

Checking orders and authorization of materials in line with the company's authority level - Daily.

Scheduling various audits : Safety (bi-annually), Quality (Minimum Standards) - weekly, Inventory - monthly.

Reporting to the Functional management : Weekly Performance, Emergencies immediate, Inventory Monthly, Cost performance - Monthly.

Control of the assets in the operation with verification at regular intervals : Movements of Fixed Assets (MOFA), Assets bi-annually.

Management and discipline of the employees : Vacation Planning - Annually, Disciplinary Inquiries As and When, Time & Attendance - Monthly.

Managing employee succession plan for the operation : Succession plan Annually, Training Plan - Annually, Employee Evaluations - Quarterly.

Liaison with role players : Customers (External / Internal), Suppliers (External - Contractors / Internal).
