Job Description – SAS Platform Administrator / SAS Technical Specialist

Location : Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (STC)

Experience : 8+ years total IT experience, with 4+ years hands-on experience on SAS 9.4M7 platform

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced SAS Platform Administrator / Technical Specialist to support and manage the SAS 9.4M7 environment used for SAS IFRS 9, SAS ALM, SAS GCM, MIP / VAAR, and other regulatory & risk analytics solutions. The ideal candidate will manage the full SAS platform stack including Metadata Server, Mid-Tier, Compute Tier, and related components.

The role involves administration, performance tuning, troubleshooting, deployment support, and close coordination with risk, finance, and technical teams.

Key Responsibilities

SAS Platform Administration

Manage and administer SAS 9.4M7 environment across Metadata Server, Mid-tier, and Compute tier.

Perform user, group, and role management through SAS Metadata.

Manage libraries, permissions, authentication, and authorization within SAS.

Monitor platform health, system logs, server processes, and scheduled jobs.

Application Support

Provide technical support for SAS IFRS 9, SAS ALM, SAS GCM, MIP / VAAR implementations.

Troubleshoot application and job failures, performance bottlenecks, and data access issues.

Coordinate with application teams for deployments, upgrades, and patching.

System & Performance Management

Optimize server performance for high-volume analytical workloads.

Tune SAS Workspace Servers, Connect Servers, and Metadata performance.

Work closely with infrastructure teams on OS-level performance, storage, and network-related issues.

Deployment & Migration

Support migration of code and configurations across environments (DEV / UAT / PROD).

Implement hotfixes, patches, and upgrades for SAS components.

Validate platform stability after installations or configuration changes.

Security & Governance

Ensure compliance with internal IT and security policies.

Implement metadata backups, disaster recovery procedures, and environment documentation.

Collaboration

Work closely with Risk, Finance, and Business teams to support business-critical SAS jobs and reporting cycles.

Collaborate with DBAs, System Admins, and Network teams for issue resolution.

Required Skills & Experience

8+ years total IT experience, with at least 4 years hands-on experience administering the SAS 9.4 platform.

Strong experience with SAS Solutions : IFRS 9, ALM, GCM, MIP / VAAR.

Deep knowledge of SAS architecture—Metadata, Mid-Tier (Web App Server), Compute, Grid (if applicable).

Expertise in Linux / Unix environments.

Strong troubleshooting abilities across platform, application, and OS layers.

Experience in job scheduling, performance tuning, and system monitoring.

Understanding of risk and finance processes preferred.

Good to Have

Experience with banking or telecom analytics environments.

Exposure to SAS Visual Analytics (if applicable).

Knowledge of database systems (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).

Basic scripting (Shell, Python) for automation.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.

SAS certifications are an added advantage.
