The Rigger I is responsible for lifting, moving, and positioning heavy equipment and materials safely using hoisting and rigging techniques. This role requires expertise in load calculations, lifting plans, and adherence to safety protocols in oil and gas operations. The Rigger I works closely with crane operators, supervisors, and ground crews to ensure safe and efficient rigging operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Rigging & Lifting Operations
- Prepare and inspect rigging gear, slings, chains, hooks, and shackles before use.
- Assist in setting up cranes, hoists, and other lifting equipment for operations.
- Secure loads properly, ensuring balance and stability during lifting.
- Guide crane operators using hand signals and radio communication.
2. Safety & Compliance
Follow OSHA, API, and company safety regulations for lifting and rigging.Inspect lifting tools and equipment for defects or wear, reporting any issues.Maintain a safe working environment by following hazard assessments and permit‑to‑work systems.Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.3. Load Calculations & Lift Planning
Understand load weight distribution and center of gravity for safe lifting.Assist in preparing and reviewing lift plans under the guidance of a rigging supervisor.Conduct risk assessments for heavy lifts and confined space operations.4. Maintenance & Reporting
Maintain rigging logs and inspection records.Assist in routine maintenance of rigging equipment.Report any incidents, near misses, or equipment failures to supervisors.Requirements
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent; trade school certification is a plus.Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Rigger in the oil and gas industry.Saudi & Aramco Experience is a must.Rigger 1 certified is a must.Experience in onshore lifting is a must.Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of rigging principles, lifting techniques, and load calculations.Ability to read and understand lift plans, rigging charts, and crane hand signals.Proficient in using shackles, hoists, spreader bars, winches, and pulley systems.Excellent communication skills to coordinate with crane operators and ground crews.Physically fit for handling heavy loads and working in extreme conditions.#J-18808-Ljbffr
