Overview
The CFO-Portfolio Management will be responsible for overseeing the financial performance and governance of AEW’s portfolio of project companies and O&M subsidiaries across multiple geographies. The role serves as a key link between the Group CFO and the project-level finance teams, ensuring consistency, transparency, and strategic alignment across all assets.
The position requires a deep understanding of the power and water sectors within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including the IPP framework, regulatory environment, and commercial structures under long-term concession and offtake arrangements. The role will lead the review and consolidation of financial results, business plans, and performance targets across operating and construction-stage projects, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to the Group CFO and Executive Management.
This role also involves providing financial leadership and oversight to project-level CFOs and O&M company finance heads, supporting them in driving operational excellence, cost efficiency, and compliance. The incumbent will coordinate financial matters related to project stakeholders including lenders, government counterparties, EPC contractors, O&M providers, and other key service contractors to ensure sound financial discipline and alignment with contractual and corporate objectives.
Your Job Functions (Duties & Responsibilities)
- Provide monthly / quarterly business performance reviews to CFO / CEO.
- Provide consolidated MTP review by asset / investment / projects.
- Together with the CFOs of the projects, ensure efficient business performance & MTP reviews with the countries.
- Provide in-depth cost analysis.
- Prepare & organize quarterly review meetings per support functions (Finance, HR, Legal & IT).
- Support the G&A performance plan target setting & propose action plans in close coordination with countries & projects.
- Monitor, review & execute G&A performance action plans.
- Coordinate / perform specific ad hoc performance reviews & financial analysis for the projects.
- Challenging the countries on the figures & their accuracy (e.g. Business performance translation into finance, cost optimization efforts, etc.)
- Proposing possible areas of improvement, including action plans to reach performance targets.
- Manage relationships with partners and key stakeholders, ensuring alignment of financial goals and objectives.
- Oversee accounting and audit functions for all projects within the portfolio, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for all projects, maintaining transparency and accountability.
- Collaborate with project-level CFOs to develop and implement financial strategies that support business objectives.
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes across the portfolio.
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
- Provide strategic financial guidance to support decision-making processes at the project and group levels.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial performance and operational efficiency.
- Mentor and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
- Oversee and support the financial performance and governance of O&M subsidiaries, ensuring alignment with group standards, contractual commitments, and performance targets.
- Collaborate closely with project-level CFOs, EPC contractors, and O&M service providers to ensure transparent cost control, cash flow discipline, and contract compliance.
- Monitor financial interfaces among shareholders, lenders, contractors, and government offtakers to ensure proper coordination and timely issue resolution.
- Provide oversight on project-level financial models, refinancing initiatives, and variation order evaluations to ensure consistency across the portfolio.
- Drive efficiency in project and corporate reporting cycles, ensuring accurate consolidation of project results and timely escalation of key variances.
- Serve as the key financial contact for internal and external stakeholders involved in construction and operational phases, including EPC, O&M, and technical advisory teams.
Requirements
University degree in Finance, Economics, and / or an MBA or relevant professional qualification.10+ years’ experience in accounting / business controlling. Some experience at operational entity & corp. levels is a plus.Proven experience in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia within the independent power and water producer (IPP / IWP) sector, with a strong grasp of regulatory, financial, and contractual frameworks.Strong skills in IT Finance Systems or equivalent. Experience in MDT controlling tool is a plus (as well as Smart consolidation tool & ERP systems).Hands-on experience in portfolio reporting, and ERP-based performance management.Experience in performance, efficiencies and process simplification.Sound business orientation rooted in understanding of value creation levers & cost optimization mindsetAbility to build and update relevant analytical reports.Rigorous, analytical skills & good organizational and planning skillsStrong in structured business-oriented communication & giving good (written) executive synthesis.Interest in developing knowledge of the business models and challenges of the different projectsThe ability to communicate at different levels of the organization, across different geographical locations and with people with different cultural background.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to effectively manage relationships with government stakeholders, lenders, and both local and international partners in large-scale project environments.Familiarity with EPC and O&M contract structures, financial terms, and performance-linked mechanisms.Operational and Project Integration; Demonstrates the ability to oversee multiple project and O&M finance teams, ensuring unified standards of reporting, compliance, and performance tracking across diverse contractual environments.
