Talent Acquisition Specialist | Talent Acquisition | Recruitment | Headhunting | HR | Human Resource Management Job Summary One of our clients are looking for a Senior HR Specialist who plays a key role in managing and executing human resources functions within a dynamic construction environment. This position supports workforce planning, recruitment, employee relations, compliance, and performance management, ensuring HR practices align with both corporate objectives and regulatory requirements. The role requires deep understanding of HR operations in the construction sector, including union / non-union environments, site-based workforce management, and project-based staffing.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Workforce Planning
Lead full-cycle recruitment for technical, trade, and management positions.
Partner with project managers and site supervisors to forecast manpower needs and deploy staffing strategies.
Oversee onboarding and orientation programs for new hires and site employees.
Build relationships with trade schools, unions, and industry organizations to develop talent pipelines.
Employee Relations & Engagement
Provide guidance to managers and employees on HR policies, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
Support site leaders in addressing workforce issues in compliance with labor laws and company policy.
Promote a positive work culture through employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and communication strategies.
Compliance & Policy Administration
Ensure compliance with local labor laws, health & safety regulations, and union agreements.
Maintain and update HR policies, handbooks, and procedures in alignment with industry standards.
Conduct audits of HR practices across job sites to ensure consistent policy implementation.
Performance Management & Training
Support managers in implementing performance evaluations and career development plans.
Identify skill gaps and coordinate training for field staff, supervisors, and administrative teams.
Collaborate with safety and operations departments to deliver compliance and leadership training.
HR Data Management & Reporting
Maintain accurate employee records in HRIS and project management systems.
Prepare HR metrics and workforce analytics reports (turnover, headcount, labor costs, etc.).
Support compensation benchmarking and annual review processes.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
5–8+ years of HR experience, with at least 3 years in the construction industry.
Strong knowledge of employment law, union relations, and construction site labor practices.
Proficiency in HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities; ability to thrive in fast‑paced, project‑driven settings.
Professional certifications such as SHRM‑CP / SHRM‑SCP / PHR / SPHR are highly desirable.
