Responsibilities
- Manage all performance venues (auditoriums, black box theaters, rehearsal spaces, and experimental stages) to support rehearsals, productions, and academic events.
- Ensure smooth technical and operational execution of performances and activities across the university.
- Guarantee venues are equipped, safe, and ready for artistic and educational use.
- Provide a professional, student-centered service that enhances learning and creative experiences.
Strategic Responsibilities
Develop venue management policies and scheduling procedures aligned with academic and artistic priorities.Establish standards for technical readiness, safety compliance, and interdisciplinary support across performance spaces.Partner with faculty, production teams, and service providers to deliver high-quality events and experiences.Contribute to strategic planning for venue upgrades, installations, and long-term technical needs.Operational Responsibilities
Oversee daily operations, scheduling, and bookings for all performing spaces.Supervise lighting, sound, rigging, and stage operations to meet diverse production requirements.Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance of infrastructure with FM and technical teams.Lead venue technicians, stagehands, and contractors, ensuring training, task assignment, and performance monitoring.Ensure compliance with health, safety, and fire regulations, maintaining detailed inspection and incident logs.Collaborate with AV and recording teams to provide integrated technical support for productions.Maintain familiarity with digital control systems, lighting / sound consoles, and creative tools across disciplines.Prepare reports on venue usage, technical setups, incidents, and contribute to budgeting and planning.Industry Experience
10+ years of experience managing performance venues or technical theater operations.Strong knowledge of stagecraft, production workflows, lighting, sound, and rigging.Experience supporting rehearsals, productions, and academic events in diverse settings.Familiarity with interdisciplinary creative practices in music, theater, film, and visual arts.Management capabilities
Ability to coordinate complex event scheduling and technical delivery.Skilled in planning upgrades, managing budgets, and overseeing installations.Strong ability to balance safety compliance with creative and academic needs.Interpersonal skills
