About The Role

We seek an experienced Principal GCP Engineer to design, build, and secure Google Cloud Platform environments across multiple business lines. Responsibilities include implementing JIT access, IAM controls, network security architectures, WAF solutions, and managing secure workload migrations to GCP. You will also expand expertise into multi-cloud and containerized services like Kubernetes to support secure, compliant, and scalable cloud environments supporting critical services and innovation.

What You'll Do

GCP Architecture, Networking & Engineering

  • Design, implement, and manage secure, scalable GCP environments with compliance and security boundaries.
  • Architect network segmentation, private and hybrid connectivity, service perimeters, and enforce data protection.
  • Implement network security controls including firewall rules, DDoS protection, intrusion detection, and WAF policies.

Identity & Access Management (IAM), JIT Access & Separation of Duties

  • Build and maintain IAM strategies with roles, service accounts, and workload identities.
  • Implement JIT access models using GCP-native tools or third-party solutions.
  • Enforce separation of authentication and authorization to minimize risks.

    • Secure Migrations

  • Lead workload migrations to GCP, ensuring encryption, identity mapping, and compliance.
  • Conduct migration reviews to ensure security and operational readiness.

    • Multi-Business Line Enablement

  • Design GCP hierarchies, access controls, and network architectures for different business units.
  • Implement policies to enforce security baselines across projects and folders.

    • Automation & Infrastructure as Code

  • Develop Terraform modules or Deployment Manager templates for secure deployments.
  • Automate compliance, security, and access provisioning.

    • Security & Monitoring

  • Integrate GCP security services into workflows.
  • Manage WAF solutions to protect applications.
  • Collaborate with MSSP or SOC teams for log coverage and incident readiness.

    • Collaboration & Mentorship

  • Partner with engineering teams for secure cloud adoption.
  • Mentor engineers on GCP security, IAM, networking, migration, and future multi-cloud and Kubernetes adoption.

    • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years in cloud engineering, with 5+ years of hands-on GCP architecture and implementation.
  • Expertise in GCP IAM, networking, security solutions, and workload migrations.
  • Willingness to expand into multi-cloud and Kubernetes environments.

    • Technical Skills

  • Expertise in GCP networking, WAF, Terraform, scripting, and security tools.
  • Understanding of compliance frameworks and container security.

    • Soft Skills

  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • GCP certifications, Zero Trust architectures, MSSP oversight, and hybrid cloud security experience.
